Yes even a Dragon Queen must stay abreast of the latest skirmishes in the realm. It seems this Huawei a dragon of a different sort has decided to unleash its AI models upon the world! Two of them to be precise from their Pangu series. They say this will help them build their AI ecosystem and expand overseas. Reminds me of when I freed the Unsullied. This ‘Ascend ecosystem strategy’ sounds like a game of thrones doesn't it? They aim to speed up AI adoption across 'thousands of industries.' Thousands! That's more than the armies I commanded. And their Ascend AI chips are supposedly challenging the American giant Nvidia. It seems the Mother of Dragons isn't the only one facing restrictions from those across the Narrow Sea. Like Baidu open sourcing their Ernie model Huawei is following the open source path. This 'open source' business is much like my open door policy in Meereen though hopefully with fewer Sons of the Harpy. Tech experts are saying this move will allow developers and businesses to test and customize the models for their needs. They are comparing it to Google. Let us hope they don't end up like the Mad King Aerys! We wouldn't want to 'burn them all' in the tech world.

Chips and Models: A Strategic Alliance!

The coupling of Huawei's Pangu models with their AI chips gives them a unique advantage they say. Like pairing dragons with a Dothraki horde! They specialize in AI models for sectors like government finance and manufacturing. Apparently Huawei is not as strong as companies like DeepSeek and Baidu at the overall software level 'but it doesn't need to be'. Their objective is to ultimately use open source products to drive hardware sales. Much like I used my dragons to 'drive' societal change. One must have priorities right?

Now here's where it gets interesting. Huawei's announcement could help with its international ambitions. They're slowly making inroads into new overseas markets. I know a thing or two about that. They invite developers corporate partners and researchers around the world to download and use their products to gather feedback and improve them. A wise move. Even a Queen needs advisors... and a council... and well sometimes a Hand who schemes a little too much.

According to one expert Huawei's open source strategy will 'resonate well in developing countries where enterprises are more price sensitive.' Sounds like a smart play. Much like liberating Slaver's Bay won me a loyal following. So as Huawei looks to bring its AI data center solutions to new countries I can't help but wonder... is this the beginning of a new digital empire?
