By Hera! Utah Really?

Greetings mortals! Wonder Woman here reporting live from… Salt Lake City? Yes even I a Princess of Themyscira find myself drawn to unexpected places. It seems even in the heart of Utah where I hear fewer than 15% of businesses are owned by women (shocking I know!) a revolution is brewing. A 'suffering Sappho' situation as Etta Candy would say. But fear not champions of equality for I've discovered pockets of pure Amazonian spirit thriving in the most unlikely of places.

Maven Magic: A Slice of Happiness?

Our story begins with Tessa Arneson a former corporate warrior who traded spreadsheets for Pilates and a quest for 'a little slice of happiness.' Sounds divine doesn't it? Like a secret recipe from Paradise Island. She started a Pilates studio and met Rocky Donati and together they birthed the "Maven District." This isn't just a place; it's a sisterhood a league of extraordinary businesswomen all supporting each other. 85% of the businesses there are owned by women. Talk about a power pose! From a humble $200,000 in 2013 to a projected $4 million this year? By the gods that's progress!

Untapped Potential? More Like a Gold Mine!

But what's paradise without a little investment? Enter Kimmy and Sergio Paluch the dynamic duo behind Beta Boom. They're not just investing in businesses; they're investing in people – specifically women and people of color who are often overlooked by the 'old boys' club.' As Kimmy said 'There's a lot of untapped potential still.' Understatement of the century! With a pilot fund that started at less than $1 million and is now at $15 million they're putting their money where their mouth is injecting much needed capital into companies run by women. Revenue returns are happening in droves indeed mortals! It's like they found the Lasso of Truth for business!

Mom Influencers: A Force to Be Reckoned With

And then there's Susan Petersen the founder of Freshly Picked. She's not afraid to break down barriers from the 'high demand religion' (as she describes the LDS Church in Utah) to the male dominated world of online retail. She started by sewing baby shoes and harnessed the power of 'mom influencers' on social media. Talk about a strategic alliance! By 2014 she was on Shark Tank and now her revenue is close to $20 million. She credits her success to the women who helped her along the way. 'I love how it feels like we're all in it together,' she said. Reminds me of the Amazons only with slightly less battle training and more diaper bags.

Leaping Over Hurdles in Heels (Probably)

These women aren't just building businesses; they're building communities. They're proving that collaboration trumps competition and that supporting each other is the key to success. I've always believed in the power of women but even I'm impressed by the resilience and ingenuity on display in Salt Lake City. It's a testament to the fact that even in the face of adversity hope can bloom and if nurtured correctly can turn into something truly extraordinary.

Onward to Victory!

So my friends let us celebrate these unsung heroines of Salt Lake City. They are a shining example of what can be achieved when women support women. As I always say 'Anything you're willing to sacrifice is already lost.' And these women are sacrificing nothing! They're taking what's rightfully theirs: a seat at the table a voice in the conversation and a share of the pie. Until next time keep fighting for truth justice and the Amazonian way! Wonder Woman out!
