A tongue-in-cheek look at the new aluminum tariffs on canned beer and how they might affect your summer vibes (and possibly my tour snacks).

A Cruel Summer for Beer?

Okay Swifties gather 'round. So I was scrolling through my phone probably looking at cat videos or brainstorming new cardigan designs (it's always cardigan season in my heart) when I saw this news. Apparently the ex President is slapping a 25% tariff on imported canned beer and empty aluminum cans. Yes you read that right. Beer. Cans. It's giving me 'Bad Blood' vibes but for a totally different reason. Like are we seriously messing with my summer concert vibes? I need answers!

Modelo Corona and My Reputation...

Industry analysts are saying this is going to hit Constellation Brands HARD. They import all their beer from Mexico including Modelo and Corona. Modelo my friends is the *bestselling beer* in the US and mostly comes in cans. So like this is a big deal. I'm no economist (I'm more of a 'Shake It Off' and write a catchy tune about it' kind of gal) but even I can see that making beer more expensive isn't exactly going to make anyone's 'Wildest Dreams' come true. Can you imagine a world without affordable beer? It’s like a nightmare dressed as a daydream!

Red (Taylor's Version) Cans?

Now I know what you're thinking: "Taylor why do you even care? You're probably sipping on some fancy wine or artisan water!" And to that I say: my rider *always* has a selection of... beverages. Plus let's be real a lot of my fans enjoy a cold one at my shows and I want them to have the best possible experience without breaking the bank. Nobody wants to pay extra just because someone decided to start a 'Love Story' with aluminum tariffs. This is not what I meant by 'Red (Taylor's Version)'. I am concerned.

From Bottles to Cans: A 'Style' Evolution

Apparently canned beer is gaining market share over bottled beer because it's easier and cheaper to produce and transport. Brewers can produce and transport cans more easily than glass bottles which are heavier leading to cheaper prices on canned beer for consumers. It is evolving like my style over the years and its pretty cool. It gives off I can show you incredible things vibes

Canada China Mexico: The 'You Need to Calm Down' Tour

So where does the US get its aluminum? Mostly from Canada but also from China and Mexico. These countries are also major exporters of aluminum to the US. I think there is a need to calm down sit down talk it out and work through this. If I was there I would write a song about it so everyone can relate and vibe and figure out what is going on

Will My Concerts Be 'Fearless' or 'Teardrops on My Guitar'?

All I'm saying is if these tariffs mess with my fans' ability to enjoy a refreshing beverage at my shows I might have to write a strongly worded song about it. Or maybe I'll just start selling my own line of 'Fearless' canned beer. Either way I'm watching you tariffs. Watching you. And remember Swifties 'We are never ever ever getting back together'...with overpriced beer! Stay tuned!

Imagine Taylor Swift launching her own beer brand! I'd buy it just for the can design.

I can't believe this is happening. Can't we all just get along...and drink cheap beer?
