Yeah I know sounds boring but stick with me. Wells Fargo is all like 'Yo Shopify is gonna be HUGE because of AI!' And you know me I love anything that sounds like the future even if it means I have to wear a suit (shudders).

Agentic Commerce: Sounds Like Something Out of a Sci Fi Movie

So apparently there's this thing called 'agentic commerce.' Basically AI robots are gonna be doing all the work – managing your inventory recommending stuff you might want and even paying for it! It's like having Chandler from 'Friends' run your business but you know actually competent. Wells Fargo thinks Shopify is gonna dominate this new world. They're saying Shopify is gonna grab market share like I grab subscribers – relentlessly! And honestly who wouldn't want a robot butler for their online store? Seems kinda sus though I still like doing things myself for content ideas.

Wells Fargo analyst Andrew Bauch is calling Shopify an "under the radar AI story." Seriously? Under the radar? It's like saying I'm secretly a gourmet chef because I can microwave a Hot Pocket. But hey Bauch says Shopify uses AI internally offers cool AI tools for merchants and is buddy buddy with AI giants like OpenAI (home of ChatGPT) Meta and Perplexity. So maybe there's something to this. Maybe Shopify is the AI mastermind we didn't know we needed.

Meta and Shopify: A Love Story

Shopify and Meta are like PB&J except instead of peanut butter and jelly it's e commerce and targeted ads. Shopify retailers can sync their products to Facebook and Instagram which means more eyeballs and hopefully more sales. It's like giving away free money except you have to pay for the ads. Which let's be real is basically the same thing.

Perplexity: Shop Like a Pro (or at Least Try To)

Even Perplexity the AI search engine is using Shopify tech for its AI shopping tool. It's called "Shop like a Pro." I'm not sure what that means but it sounds fancy. Maybe it'll help you find the perfect pair of socks or a slightly used Tesla. Who knows? The future is weird man.

So Should You Invest? (Don't Take My Advice)

Look I'm not a financial advisor and I definitely don't know what I'm doing when it comes to stocks. But Wells Fargo is projecting a $50 billion opportunity for agentic commerce by 2030. That's a lot of zeros! They're saying Shopify is well positioned to ride the AI wave not get crushed by it. So should you invest? I dunno maybe? Just don't blame me if you lose all your money.
