Is Everyone Throwing Money Away?
Alright Beast fans gather 'round! MrBeast here diving deep into the wild world of back to school spending. I've always wondered where the families got the money to spend on back to school like are they winning the lottery or something? A new survey from PwC says that almost 75% of families are spending the SAME or MORE this year than last year. Seriously? In this economy? Are we giving away free cars or something? Nah but maybe we should... Someone get Chandler on the phone!
The 'Necessities' Excuse
Apparently it's all about "necessities". Kelly Pedersen from PwC says people HAVE to buy these specific books and supplies. I mean I get it gotta learn your ABCs... but come on! Are we talking gold plated protractors here? Are these textbooks signed by Shakespeare himself? I smell a CHALLENGE! Can we recreate a year's worth of schooling with just $1? Let's find out!
Tariff Trouble!
So it turns out those pesky tariffs are still looming over everyone's heads. Retailers like Walmart and Target are already hiking prices. This reminds me of the time I tried to buy the most expensive island possible but then the shipping costs were insane. Talk about a tariff nightmare! The average consumer feels this "cloud hanging above" as Pedersen mentions and I agree It's like when I'm doing a blind taste test and I have a sense I'm about to eat something disgusting! So what do we do now?
Discount Dive!
Here's where the real Beast magic happens: finding the VALUE! Everyone's hitting up the discount stores and reusing last year's stuff. Smart move! This is like when I try to find the most cost effective way to give away a million dollars. It's all about the strategy! If you aren't saving on back to school items you aren't trying hard enough! Now let's give away MORE money!
Tech and Threads Take a Hit
If you're cutting back tech and clothes are the first to go. No surprise there! Who needs a fancy new laptop when you can write your essays on a potato? (Disclaimer: please don't write essays on potatoes). But hey at least the essentials are safe. Those glue sticks are crucial! It's time to think creatively and shop smart. Is this a challenge? Maybe!
AI to the Rescue Gen Z to the Store!
Hold up... AI's helping people find deals? Now that's what I'm talking about! I'm pretty sure Nolan can teach an AI to film my videos for me. Forget talent we've got algorithms. Also Gen Z is actually going to physical stores? What? I thought they only existed in the metaverse! I guess the brick and mortar stores aren't dead after all. Who would've thought that we would see Gen Z supporting local vendors. I want to give Gen Z an award now they are the future!
