Is the news FAKE?

Alright alright settle down. I heard about this news of potential shortages. Shortages?! As if the world could run out of…well me! But seriously I had my people look into this tariff tango between the US and China. Apparently some importers got excited when the big tariffs took a little breather like when I take a quick rest after scoring a hat trick. But it seems not enough orders were made. Not good people not good!

Tariffs? More Like 'Terri Fying!'

These tariffs though are like defenders trying to mark me – persistent and annoying! Even with some easing these taxes are still too high. One CEO said it best we need clarity not confusion! You know it’s like when a referee makes a bad call. You need a clear explanation not just a shrug and a yellow card. We need fair play in trade just like on the pitch!

Port Problems? I've Faced Worse!

The Port of Los Angeles is saying that fewer containers are coming in. Some of you may not know how important it is to know the time but you must know what time to order goods for your goods to be made! Apparently it's hard for some companies! I've faced tougher challenges than that. I mean have you seen some of the defenders I have to outmaneuver? This situation is like a defender marking me too tight! There will be lesser choices of products and likely higher prices the director of the Port said. Everything seems hard for some businesses.

The Blame Game

There are many factors that influence if companies will meet the peak season cargo deadline or not. One executive said that there is a significant decline since the end of Q1. He also said that this decline is primarily attributed to the high tariffs imposed on Chinese goods. It can also be about alternative sourcing from Southeast Asia India and Europe. It would be nice for consumers to have a good peak season! I like nice things...

Ocean carrier space? Is there enough?

It's not enough that carriers cut down on vessel sailings due to the trade war but they need to ramp up vessel capacity quickly to accommodate the sudden increase in cargo. It is necessary for shippers to get their cargo in by the peak season cargo deadline. A CEO said there is no meaningful injection of new capacity on the Transpacific trade to the North America West Coast. Some people are concerned with available ocean freight space which they should be.

Don't Panic! (Yet)

So what does this mean for you the fans? Well some retailers were smart and stocked up early like I train extra hard before a big match. But there's a lot of uncertainty. Some stores may be a little bare and prices might go up slightly. It's like when I’m negotiating a new contract – I always aim high! Don't worry I'm sure they will come to terms but at what cost? We just have to hope the tariffs won’t cause a full blown recession. I've scored goals in tougher economies than that! So stay calm keep supporting me and maybe buy your Christmas presents early just in case. Siuuuu!
