Powell's Perilous Pronouncements

Great Rao! Seems even Earth's financial markets are having a rough time. As Superman I'm used to battling villains like Lex Luthor but even I find myself scratching my head at the twists and turns of Wall Street. Apparently a holiday shortened week was all it took for things to go south faster than a Kryptonite laced smoothie. It all started when Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell who I hear is no relation to my pal Perry White hinted that President Trump's tariffs could cause inflation and slow growth. "We may find ourselves in the challenging scenario in which our dual mandate goals are in tension," he said. Now I'm no economist but even I know that 'tension' is never a good thing especially when it involves money! Next thing you know the S&P 500 took a bigger drop than I do when Lois Lane is in trouble.

Trump vs. Powell: Dawn of Just Us League?

And speaking of trouble President Trump jumped into the fray faster than a speeding bullet blasting Powell on social media. He called him "too slow" and quipped that his "termination cannot come fast enough." Sounds like a plot from one of Lex Luthor's schemes! The market didn't stand a chance poor thing. Even I with my super strength and heat vision can't control the chaos when politics and economics collide! It's like trying to herd cats... wearing lead boots!

Nvidia's China Chip Crunch

To add insult to injury Nvidia took a nearly 7% nosedive after revealing a whopping $5.5 billion charge for China specific chips that now require an export license. It’s like they found a whole mountain of Kryptonite buried under their headquarters! The Club stock dropped even further the next day. Even the Flash couldn't have seen that coming. It's enough to make a Kryptonian reach for a Fortress of Solitude sized bottle of Maalox!

Glimmer of Hope? Maybe Just a Mirage...

So what does it all mean? Well the S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished the week with significant losses marking their third week of decline in the past four. April's shaping up to be a real doozy for Wall Street. But fear not citizens of Metropolis! There's a tiny glimmer of hope. Apparently the market was no longer oversold after Thursday's session. Of course that's about as comforting as a warm glass of milk before facing Doomsday. Still gotta stay positive right? After all I always believe in truth justice and the American way… and maybe a modest rebound!

Eli Lilly to the Rescue! (Sort Of)

In brighter news Eli Lilly one of the Club's biggest gainers saw a massive surge after announcing success with its obesity pill in a late stage trial for Type 2 diabetes. Good for them! Every little bit helps. Also Goldman Sachs and Abbott Laboratories had a decent week so not all hope is lost! They must have found some yellow sun energy somewhere. But remember folks even the Man of Steel needs to diversify his portfolio. Kryptonite exposure is bad for your assets both physical and financial!

Earnings Avalanche: Brace Yourselves!

Looking ahead it's all about the earnings folks! Danaher Capital One Financial Bristol Myers Squibb and Dover are just the tip of the iceberg. Plus we've got Tesla Procter & Gamble American Airlines and Alphabet all reporting. It's going to be a wild ride so buckle up tighter than Lois on one of my rescue flights. Speaking of which I'm gonna keep a close eye on things from above just in case Lex Luthor decides to short the market. You never know what that bald baddie is up to!

This market is more volatile than a Zod invasion!
