A Galaxy Far Far Away... and a Tariff Close By
Well well well... Seems like the former head honcho the one they called Trump is back at it again. This time he's got his sights set on Apple those folks who make the shiny rectangles everyone's always staring at. He's talking tariffs 25% or more if they don't start building those iPhones right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. This is the way? More like this is the way to empty my credits faster than a swoop bike race.
The Price of Beskar... I Mean iPhones
Now I'm no economist but even I know that slapping a tariff on something means someone's gotta pay. And usually that someone is the poor sap trying to buy the thing. Analysts are saying these tariffs could jack up the price of iPhones by a hefty chunk. Some are even saying it could cost 3500 credits. You think I can just find that kind of money in a foundling's crib? I don't think so. And this is just for average citizens to afford things! I bet you Moff Gideon would find a way to pay for an iPhone if he needed one.
This is Not the Way!
Trump has had it out for Apple for a while. I have heard tell that the man once told Tim Cook that he expects Apple's iPhones that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States not India or anyplace else. I understand being proud of your own territory but to expect this of a private company who is just trying to make a buck? That is not the way!
The China Connection... Or Disconnection
Thing is Apple's been moving some of its production to India already probably to avoid all this bantha poodoo. But even that might not be enough. And to top it off they're seeing weak sales in China. Talk about getting squeezed harder than a captured spy.
Cook's Gamble: A Million Credits and an Inauguration
Turns out Cook gave a cool million credits to Trump's inauguration fund and even showed up at the party. Now I'm all about staying neutral but that sounds like betting on the wrong horse in a podrace. Maybe he should've spent that money on a better beskar helmet for himself.
So What's Next for Apple? This is the Question.
What's it all mean? Nobody knows for sure. One thing's clear though: Apple's walking a tightrope over a Sarlacc pit. They're caught between trade wars tariffs and the whims of politicians. I'd say buckle up because this could be a bumpy ride for anyone looking to upgrade their datapad... I mean iPhone. This is the way? More like this is the way to a headache. I have spoken.
