Google Cloud is offering its Gemini AI models for deployment in private data centers, a move that could shake up the cloud market and give them an edge over competitors who prefer keeping their AI under tighter control.

A Mandalorian's Guide to Keeping Your Data Safe

I've seen a lot of tech in my travels from disintegrators to those fancy speeders on Coruscant. But this whole 'cloud' thing? Always seemed a bit too exposed for my taste. Now Google Cloud says they're letting folks run their Gemini AI models right in their own data centers. Seems like they're finally understanding that some things are better kept closer to the vest like a good Mandalorian's armor. This is the way.

Nvidia's Blackwell GPUs: Are They Worth the Beskar?

Nvidia’s Blackwell GPUs are joining the party thanks to a deal with Google. These chips are supposed to be top of the line but everything has a price. You can buy these chips through Google or other channels. Will they give you the edge you need in the AI game? Or will they just drain your credits faster than a swoop race on Tatooine? Only time will tell. But remember 'This is the way' to potentially overspend on tech.

The Competition Scowls: They Have Spoken!

Now OpenAI and Anthropic are shaking their heads saying they need more control over their AI. Seems they don't trust anyone else to handle their tech a bit like some Mandalorians I know. But I say if you can't trust your allies who can you trust? Of course trusting the wrong person is how you end up frozen in carbonite. But this isn't the case here... I hope.

From School Districts to Galactic Empires: Gemini For Everyone

Google is aiming big here. They want everyone from your local school district to the U.S. government to use their AI. They're even offering an 'air gapped' version for top secret stuff. That means no internet connection pure isolation. Perfect for hiding your secrets from the Empire... or your nosy neighbors.

The Cloud Wars: Google's Got a Long Way to Go

The article states that cloud infrastructure spending totaled $140 billion last year with Google holding only 8% of the market with Amazon leading and Microsoft in second place. So Google has a long way to go to catch up. They recently announced a $32 billion agreement to acquire Wiz because they want to boost that 8%. Credits to them for trying. It shows Google are willing to spend the Imperial Credits to get there. But still it is gonna be a long and winding road.

This is the Way Forward?

Google's cloud boss Thomas Kurian says their focus on multi cloud and AI is why they're seeing so much movement with customers. Maybe he's right. Maybe letting people run their AI where they want is the way to win this game. Or maybe it's just another gamble in a galaxy far far away. Time will tell but as a Mandalorian I appreciate the focus on security. After all 'This is the way!'

Multi-cloud is the future. Glad to see Google embracing it.

So, does this mean better AI for everyone?
