Up Up and Inaugurated! A Bird's Eye View (Almost!)
Greetings citizens of Earth! It's your friendly neighborhood Superman reporting live (well slightly delayed I was busy saving a cat from a tree – you know how it is). Today I witnessed something almost as inspiring as a sunrise over Metropolis: the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV! Yes folks history has been made. An American Pope! Who'd have thought? It's like Lex Luthor becoming a philanthropist... almost unbelievable but here we are. St. Peter's Square was packed tighter than a phone booth in a Clark Kent movie with everyone from presidents to princes eager to catch a glimpse of the new Pontiff. And let me tell you security was tighter than my super suit after a Thanksgiving feast.
A Popemobile Ride of Steel (Well More Like a Truck)
The new Pope took his first spin in the Popemobile a moment that's become as iconic as my own flight over the Daily Planet. Though I must admit the Popemobile is a bit less aerodynamic than yours truly. No sonic booms here just waves and smiles. I didn't see any baby kissing which is a shame. Maybe he's saving that for his next papal appearance. He was wearing the pallium woolen stole over his shoulders and the fisherman's ring on his finger it looked like the weight of the world's problems rested on those garments but I believe he will prevail!
Love and Unity: More Powerful Than a Locomotive!
In his homily Pope Leo XIV spoke of unity and love. He wants the Church to be a force for peace. And being able to move faster than a speeding locomotive I know a thing or two about force! He wants to heal the wounds of hatred violence and prejudice. Sounds like a job for Superman! But seriously it's a noble goal and one I wholeheartedly support. Even Lex Luthor should take note (though I doubt he will). He said "Let us build a church founded on God's love a sign of unity a missionary church that opens its arms to the world proclaims the word allows itself to be made restless by history and becomes a leaven of harmony for humanity," referencing some of the themes of Francis' pontificate as well. It's a message we could all use no matter our beliefs.
Diplomatic Dress Code: Black vs. White... and the Occasional Super Suit
Diplomacy was in full swing with seating arrangements as carefully planned as a chess match between Brainiac and Batman. Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio were there representing the good ol' US of A while President Zelenskyy also graced the event. Even Russia sent a representative though I suspect they were hoping I wouldn't show up and accidentally reveal their secret plans for world domination. And the dress code! Most wore black but the queens and princesses rocked the white. Me? I stuck with the classics – blue tights red cape and a symbol of hope for all mankind. Can't go wrong with that!
Americans Rejoice: 'Truth Justice and the American Way' – Even in the Vatican!
Americans were overjoyed. One seminarian even wrapped himself in an American flag! It's touching to see such patriotism though I hope he remembered to iron it first. After all even Superman believes in a crisp uniform. This American Pope has definitely made Catholics feel included in the world church.
Symbols of Hope: More Than Just Shiny Jewelry
The pallium and the fisherman's ring were handed to Leo symbolizing his role as shepherd of the flock. The ring becoming his official seal hearkens back to Jesus' call to the apostle Peter to cast his fishing nets. These symbols represent more than just tradition. They represent hope faith and a commitment to something greater than ourselves. And as someone who wears a giant 'S' on his chest I can appreciate that! It was a treasure simple as that.

Let's hope this Pope is better than the last one!
