A Department of Justice lawyer claims a high-ranking official, nominated for a federal judgeship, instructed attorneys to defy court orders regarding immigration deportations and consider using offensive language towards judges. A Most Illogical Suggestion

I must report on a most disturbing development. A former Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyer one Erez Reuveni has made allegations against a Mr. Emil Bove a gentleman nominated to become a federal appeals court judge. The accusation? That Mr. Bove suggested DOJ attorneys consider employing the phrase 'f k you' to judges and disregard court orders preventing the deportation of immigrants. Fascinating if by 'fascinating' one means 'utterly lacking in logical consistency.' As Spock I find this to be most perplexing.

Planes Trains and Automobiles (or Just Planes)

According to Mr. Reuveni's account Mr. Bove insisted and I quote 'the planes [carrying the immigrants] needed to take off no matter what.' This insistence appears to prioritize expediency over adherence to legal procedure. One might even suggest such an approach verges on…illogical. To boldly go where no lawyer has gone before perhaps but at what cost to the principles of justice? This is not the United Federation of Planets yet we are to allow these actions?

The Prime Directive…of Law

Several federal judges have expressed concerns about the DOJ's alleged misleading of the court failure to comply with orders and delays in providing information. This does not compute. Is the DOJ not sworn to uphold the law? To misrepresent facts before the court is akin to Spock singing a love ballad to Nurse Chapel… highly improbable and frankly a little disturbing. A breach of the Prime Directive if you will but with legal statutes instead of alien civilizations.

Thwarted Threatened and Terminated: A Whistleblower's Lament

Mr. Reuveni claims he was 'thwarted threatened fired and publicly disparaged' for doing his job and informing a judge about an erroneous deportation. One might recall the words of Surak: 'Without followers evil cannot spread.' Mr. Reuveni's actions though apparently detrimental to his career may ultimately serve a greater purpose. Unless of course he was merely seeking attention. Occam's razor suggests the former but the universe is rarely so simple.

Senator Durbin Enters the Fray

Senator Dick Durbin has weighed in accusing Mr. Bove of abusing his position. He highlights previous incidents including the firing of January 6 prosecutors and ordering the dismissal of charges against Eric Adams. The Senator now asks his Republican colleagues to turn their eye to the dire consequences of confirming Mr. Bove. The Senator has a point but a point if pursued to its logical conclusion can be quite sharp. Proceed with caution.

Truth Falsehoods and 'Garbage'

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has dismissed Mr. Reuveni's claims as 'falsehoods' from a 'disgruntled former employee.' He further criticizes the journalistic integrity of the report. The question as always is: 'Is there a logical explanation for this data?' Emotions run high as they frequently do in matters involving politics and jurisprudence. One must analyze the facts with unwavering objectivity separating the signal from the noise. Fascinating.
