Ay caramba! Your favorite swashbuckling feline Puss in Boots reporting live! I've just heard whispers on the wind (and by 'wind' I mean the internet which is almost as mysterious) that Amazon that grand bazaar of everything from sombreros to… well more sombreros might be raising prices! The villain? Those pesky tariffs leftover from President Trump's reign. Apparently my friend Andy Jassy the big boss cat at Amazon says the third party sellers those delightful merchants who bring us such treasures might have to pass those costs onto us the loyal customers. ¡No bueno! This could affect my budget for essential items like boots. One must always have spare boots you know. For uh emergencies! Yes...emergencies.

The Chinese Connection: Spicy!

Now it seems a vast number of these sellers are based in China or get their goods from there. Sixty percent they say! That's a lot of fortune cookies! If they have to charge more due to these tariff troubles then my days of cheap tuna flavored treats are over! A cat's gotta eat but a cat also has gotta save for a rainy day. What if I need to bribe the guards to get into Duloc again? Those are expenses amigos!

Strategic Stockpiling: Puss in Boots Style!

But fear not dear readers! Amazon like a clever gato is trying to outsmart these tariffs. Mr. Jassy mentioned 'strategic forward inventory buys.' Sounds fancy! I'm picturing them buying up all the best cat toys before the prices go up. Genius! He also mentioned renegotiating deals. Smart. Like when I renegotiated the terms of my 'hero' status after the Giant Goose incident. Let's just say it involved a LOT of butterscotch. They even cancelled some orders because they saw this coming avoiding to take product from Chinese vendors. Crafty!

Panic Buying? Or Just Good Taste?

And get this: some people are already hoarding! Buying extra stuff because they think the prices are going up. I Puss in Boots support this wholeheartedly. Always be prepared! Especially when it comes to things like oh I don't know… milk. For uh baking! Yes baking. Though Mr. Jassy isn't sure if it's just a temporary blip or a sign of the times. Only time will tell. But I for one am stocking up on tiny hats. One can never have too many tiny hats.

AI to the Rescue? Or a Shiny Distraction?

Now here's where it gets interesting. Amazon's apparently spending a fortune on AI. A HUNDRED BILLION! That's more than I've spent on catnip in my nine lives! Apparently they're building massive data centers to support all this AI stuff. Mr. Jassy says they started diversifying their supply chain five years ago so they don't rely on just one country for parts. Smart move my friend. It would be bad if I was stuck with only one brand of boots. What if they went out of style? ¡Horror!

The Future is Feline… and Apparently Still Being Built

Despite these tariff troubles Amazon is not slowing down. They're still building those data centers. Mr. Jassy says 'We're going to keep building.' Good! Because a world without convenient online shopping is a world no self respecting gato wants to live in.
