Namaste and Nasdaq: A Week of Rollercoaster Rides
Friends it's your favorite gluten free positivity spreading tennis guru Novak here! Last week was…how do you say?…a bit of a topsy turvy. The Nasdaq had its worst week in five years. My Magnificent Seven buddies – Nvidia Meta Amazon Tesla Apple Microsoft and Alphabet – lost a combined $1.8 trillion. I mean even I felt that and I'm usually meditating in the mountains somewhere! It was like someone forgot to visualize a positive outcome and only saw the 'cloud of dust' from the competition. But fear not for Novak is here and a champion always rises!
The Trump Card: Tariffs and Tennis – Unexpected Parallels
The culprit? Tariffs! Yes those pesky taxes that can make things…complicated. Just like a baseline rally with Rafa except instead of sweat it's money disappearing. President Trump's tariff talk sent the market into a spin a real Djokovic slam of volatility! Some speculate he might be open to negotiation – a glimmer of hope! It's all about finding that 'zone' you know? The perfect balance between aggression and control. Just like my backhand when it's working it's poetry in motion. When it's not...well let's just say thank goodness for second serves!
Nvidia Leads the Charge: A Seven Percent Smash!
But like any good comeback ours started with a spark. Nvidia bless its silicon heart led the charge with a 7% rally! That's like acing Federer three times in a row! The other Magnificent Seven Meta Amazon Tesla Apple and Microsoft jumped at least 4% each. Even Alphabet decided to join the party with a 3% rise. It's amazing what a little bit of positive energy and a good visualization can do. Remember 'You have to believe in yourself when no one else does.' And clearly I believed in the Magnificent Seven.
Semiconductors Bounce Back: Chip Off the Old Block
The semiconductor sector those little wizards behind all the technology also had a strong day. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF jumped over 4%. Companies like Advanced Micro Devices Lam Research and Micron Technology followed suit. Despite not being directly targeted by the recent tariffs (yet) they've been under pressure. Higher duties can hurt demand slowing down the whole economy! It's like a double fault – you punish yourself and give your opponent an easy point.
Buybacks and Business Deals: Injecting Some 'Zen' into the Market
Speaking of good vibes Broadcom announced a $10 billion share buyback plan sending its stock soaring over 9%! That's like winning a Grand Slam – a huge confidence boost! Marvell Technology also had a great day after selling its auto ethernet business for $2.5 billion. It's all about finding the right partnerships the right strategies and the right…breathing techniques. Inhale confidence exhale doubt! Just like I do before every match even against Federer!
Visualization Victory: My Secret Weapon to Winning (and Investing)
So what's the takeaway? The market like a tennis match has its ups and downs. But with the right mindset the right strategy and a little bit of Novak style visualization we can overcome any challenge. Remember 'Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion.' So keep believing keep visualizing and keep investing…responsibly of course. And maybe just maybe send me a small percentage of your profits. After all I did inspire this comeback didn't I? *wink*
