Sixty Shades of Delivery: A New Record?
Alright folks Novak here reporting live from... well not a tennis court this time. Word on the street (or rather in the skies) is that Boeing managed to deliver a whopping 60 airplanes last month. Sixty! Now I know a thing or two about achieving peak performance and consistency but in the world of airplanes that’s kind of like winning a Grand Slam after a shaky start isn't it? They haven't seen numbers like this since December 2023 before the door plug incident – which let's be honest sounded like something straight out of a slapstick comedy... if it weren't so serious. But hey maybe they’re channeling my 'one match at a time' philosophy.
737 Max: The Comeback Kid
Forty two of these beauties were the 737 Max going to airlines like Southwest Alaska and United. It's like seeing an old friend back on the court after a long injury – you want them to succeed! Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg the man with a plan says they're making progress on quality and production. You know just like how I meditate to stay calm before a big match they're probably doing some serious 'airplane yoga' to keep those production lines flowing smoothly.
Quarterly Comeback: Almost Roger Federer Level
The second quarter saw 150 airplanes delivered. Not bad not bad at all. The best since 2018! A little birdie (or maybe a Boeing 737) tells me that Boeing needs to produce at least 42 aircraft per month... That's ambitious! Just like me aiming for 24 Grand Slams. If they can reach that goal it's like I always say 'You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right there.'
Orders Up Cancellations Down (Hopefully)
They snagged 116 gross orders in June which boils down to 70 net after the usual cancellations and adjustments. You know how it is sometimes you win some sometimes you lose some... but you always keep your eye on the ball – or in this case the aircraft! With a backlog of 5,953 they've got plenty to keep them busy. But can they handle the pressure? It's like facing Nadal on clay – you've got to bring your A game!
Ortberg's Master Plan: Can He Deliver?
All eyes are on CEO Kelly Ortberg and his plan to ramp up production. He's confident they can hit that 42 planes a month target. Confidence is key my friends. As I always say 'The mind is everything. What you think you become.' But let's be real it's one thing to talk the talk and another to walk the walk. Can Boeing stick the landing? Only time will tell.
The Final Set: What to Watch For
Investors are watching closely. Can Boeing turn things around? Will the FAA give them the green light? It’s all up in the air folks just like those 737 Maxes. In the meantime I'll be back on the court chasing my own records. But I'll be keeping an eye on Boeing because in this game of life everyone loves a good comeback story.
