Wait The NYT is Getting Paid For Their Stuff?
Okay so you know how I always say "Money can buy happiness!"? Well it looks like The New York Times is taking that to heart. They just shook hands with Amazon and now their articles recipes from NYT Cooking and even sports analysis from The Athletic are going to be feeding Amazon's AI overlords... I mean platforms! They’re basically saying "Here Amazon have our brains! But pay up!" Which honestly good for them!
Lawsuit? Nah Let's Get That Bread!
Remember when The New York Times was all fired up suing Microsoft and OpenAI for swiping their content to train those fancy AI models? They were all like "You can't just take our stuff!" But then Amazon came along waving a big bag of money and suddenly it's "Come on in Amazon! Help yourself!" Smart move if you ask me. Why fight when you can get paid? It's like choosing between a challenge video for $10,000 or just finding $10,000 on the street. Easy choice!
Alexa Read Me The News (For A Price!)
So what does this mean for you my loyal subscribers? Well picture this: You're chilling at home ask Alexa for the news and BAM! You're getting a bite sized piece of The New York Times. The catch? Amazon's AI is now even smarter which is both cool and slightly terrifying. Will Alexa start giving me business advice on how to give away even MORE money? Only time will tell!
The NYT Cooking Section Now Powered by AI?!
Okay this part is actually kinda cool. Think about it AI powered recipes! You tell Alexa what ingredients you have and it whips up the perfect meal from the NYT Cooking archives. Though I bet it can't make a 20,000 layer cake that Chandler can eat in one sitting. But who knows what the future holds? Maybe one day AI will help me plan my next epic challenge! I hope it helps me avoid going to jail.
Amazon vs. Everyone Else: The AI Wars Begin!
Amazon is clearly playing catch up in the AI game. They're throwing out new products left and right from souped up Alexas to those fancy Nova models and Bedrock the marketplace for AI models like they are buying a Netherland’s worth of tulips. It's like they're trying to build the ultimate AI theme park. The big question is will they succeed? Will Amazon become the king of AI or will they end up like that one guy who tried to build a rocket in his backyard? (Spoiler alert: It didn't end well.)
Sharing is Caring... Right?
I really hope that the New York Times subscribers get some sort of benefit out of this deal. They pay a lot of money and I am not sure they would be happy knowing that the NYT is making money off them without giving any of that value back. That is why I always like to ensure that I pass on any benefit from a good deal. You scratch my back I scratch yours!
