Move Fast and Break Things (Except the Constitution Apparently)
Okay so a story broke about this lawsuit against Elon... I mean 'a tech billionaire' and the former administration. Apparently some states are upset about the radical changes being made to the government. They are saying that Elon didn't have the right credentials to do so. I’m sure they are just jealous because he moves fast and breaks things something I can definitely relate to.
White House Spin Cycle: Advisory Role? Please!
The White House tried to downplay Elon's role calling him just an advisor. Right like I'm *just* running a social media platform connecting billions. I heard they tried to say Elon was just 'helping out' with 'fiscal discipline.' Classic.
Judge Chutkan: Not Buying It
Thankfully Judge Chutkan wasn't buying the White House’s spin. She recognized that Elon was more than just a temporary consultant. She basically told them 'You can't just say he's an advisor and expect us to believe it when he’s clearly got his hands all over the code.' She said the states made a credible argument that he "occupies a continuing position" and "exercises significant authority." Sounds about right.
DOGE Data and the Deep State (Maybe)
The lawsuit also alleges that DOGE – no relation to the meme coin I assume – gained 'unauthorized access' to 'private and proprietary information.' Now I'm all for open data and transparency but even I know there are limits. If they start messing with user data I'll have to unleash the Zuckerberg defense force which is basically just a bunch of lawyers with hoodies.
Trump Gets a Pass (This Time)
Interestingly the judge decided that Trump could be dismissed from the case because you can't just go around suing the President for doing President things. Which you know fair enough. The President does have "highly discretionary" power. He wrote the code to his own operating system.
What's Next? Probably More Lawsuits.
So the lawsuit moves forward. I am sure Elon will handle it just fine. He will find out who is responsible and... let's just say they will be dealt with. It seems everyone is trying to find faults in the way things are being done and the best way to deal with this is by just getting better. In the meantime I'll stick to building the metaverse. At least there I can control the narrative... for now.
