Wa hoo! A Bill So Big It Needs Its Own Castle!

It's a me Mario! Reporting live from the Mushroom Kingdom – er Washington! The House Rules Committee just pushed through President Trump's 'big beautiful' tax bill after a 21 hour marathon of talking. That's longer than it takes to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser... twice! They voted 8 4 which means it's headed to the House floor faster than I can say 'It's a me!' Speaker Mike Johnson wants this done by Memorial Day. Seems like everyone's in a hurry to stomp on someone else's Goomba eh?

No Coin for Democrats!

Looks like the Democrats are saying 'Game Over' to this bill. Not a single one plans to jump on board. One conservative Rep. Chip Roy didn't even vote in the committee. Maybe he's off collecting 1 up mushrooms? With Johnson's narrow lead he can't afford to lose many Republicans. It's like trying to beat a level with only one hit point – super tough!

Trump to the Rescue? Or Just Another Bowser?

Trump himself even called up some fiscal hawks for a pow wow at the White House. He's trying to convince them that this bill is 'critical for the country.' But even Karoline Leavitt said the meeting 'moved the ball in the right direction.' Sounds like a slow moving Koopa Troopa to me! Meanwhile the markets are freaking out faster than Luigi seeing a ghost. They're worried this bill will blow up the national debt like a Bob omb factory. Yikes!

A Little Something for Everyone... Maybe?

The bill's got more amendments than I have mushrooms! It's like a Super Mario Maker level gone wild. They even moved up work requirements for Medicaid. But there's also a big boost to the SALT deduction cap which might make some folks happier than finding a hidden block with a star! It's supposed to make Trump's 2017 tax cuts permanent and get rid of taxes on tips. I could use some of that tip money to buy more overalls!

The Congressional Budget Office took a peek and... 'Mama Mia!' They say the poorest folks might get less while the richest get more. It's like giving Bowser all the stars while I'm stuck with a rotten mushroom! But hey that's just what they're saying. Maybe they're just jealous of my jumping skills.

Even if this bill clears the House it's got a tough road ahead in the Senate. They're going to use something called 'budget reconciliation,' which is like using a warp zone to skip levels.
