The Writing's on the Windshield
Well well well what do we have here? It seems Tesla much like a shaken martini is facing a bit of a rough patch. The delivery numbers are due and the analysts those oh so serious chaps aren't exactly brimming with optimism. Forecasts are down blaming everything from factory shutdowns to...dare I say it...Elon Musk's political affiliations. As Q would say 'A disappointing turn of events 007. Try not to let it happen again.' But I have a feeling that Mr. Musk is not the one to take it easy.
A License to Dilligaf?
Apparently Mr. Musk's dalliance with the Trump administration hasn't exactly endeared him to the public. Who knew that taking sides in a political game could impact sales? 'Bond James Bond a politically neutral spy,' I always say. It keeps things simpler especially when you're trying to seduce information out of a beautiful yet deadly informant. Though I must admit I find the ensuing drama rather amusing; 'Never say never' right? The stock market seems to agree taking a tumble faster than a Bond girl falling for my charm.
Chinese Whispers and Electric Dreams
And then there's the competition a rising tide of Chinese automakers like BYD Li Auto Nio and Geely. They're snapping at Tesla's heels like sharks after a wounded whale. It seems even the mighty Tesla isn't immune to a bit of healthy competition. It reminds me of a particularly tense poker game in Monaco where every player had an ace up their sleeve...or in their bra. Still no competition can defeat the brand so Tesla might take a lesson on brand building from me.
Robotaxi to the Rescue?
But fear not for there's a glimmer of hope on the horizon! Tesla's grand pivot towards Full Self Driving or Robotaxi as they call it might just be the gadget that saves the day. Like a well timed ejector seat it could catapult Tesla out of this mess and into a brighter future. Analysts are practically giddy about it envisioning a trillion dollar market. If it works that is. As Q would say 'Now pay attention 007. I never joke about my work.' and neither does Tesla.
Wall Street's Crystal Ball
Deutsche Bank thinks deliveries will miss expectations William Blair sees the Robotaxi as Tesla's salvation Barclays warns of a deep EV Winter Canaccord Genuity blames Musk's politics Cantor Fitzgerald laments executive departures and JPMorgan anticipates further delivery declines. It's a veritable chorus of doom and gloom! Reminds me of the time I infiltrated a SPECTRE meeting. So many opinions so little hope... until I arrived of course. Seems to me that I might have to make a trip to Wall Street myself!
The Name's Bond Sales Bond
So what's the verdict? Tesla's facing headwinds no doubt. Musk's antics aren't helping competition is fierce and analysts are sharpening their knives. But the Robotaxi could be the ace in the hole the gadget that turns the tide. As for me I'll keep a close eye on things perhaps with a well placed Aston Martin and a beautiful companion. After all one can never be too careful. Or as I always say 'The world is not enough'. Especially when it comes to my sales commission.
