Shaken Not Stirred: Williams Departs
Right then chaps. Seems Apple's Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams is calling it a day later this year. Twenty seven years with the firm – longer than some of my missions! It appears old age catches up even with tech giants; nobody lives forever. Or at least they shouldn't. Williams I hear will be handing over the operational reins to Sabih Khan a chap with a rather impressive track record. Though I suspect no Aston Martin fitted with ejector seats.
From Russia with iPhones: Supply Chain Woes
Of course Williams isn't just vanishing into thin air just yet. He'll be keeping his fingers in the Apple Watch and design pies reporting directly to Tim Cook. One might say 'the name's Williams Jeff Williams head of Apple's Q Branch'. But the timing is interesting isn't it? Leaving as the supply chain faces more pressure than a villain's henchman in a shrinking room. Tariffs White House pressure… it's enough to make one reach for a martini. Still as Goldfinger would say 'Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.' I suspect there is more to it than meets the eye.
Khan's Gambit: Taking the Reins
Enter Sabih Khan. This chap's no stranger to high stakes having joined Apple in '95. I hear he once booked a flight to China on the spot to fix a manufacturing hiccup. Now that's what I call initiative! Reminds me of the time I had to... well never mind. Some stories are best left untold. He’s now in charge of supply chain quality planning procurement and fulfillment so it’s safe to say Apple is putting a lot of trust in him. Let's hope he's up to the task; the world is not enough at stake.
A Farewell to Arms: A Legacy Defined
Cook's rather effusive in his praise of Williams calling him instrumental in building a top notch supply chain and spearheading the Apple Watch. All rather impressive if I do say so myself. It's a legacy that will linger that's for sure. Though I dare say I've left a fair few legacies of my own. Some explosive some less so. As James Bond I've always said 'You only live twice: Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face'.
For His Eyes Only: Williams' Future
Williams says he's off to spend time with friends and family. A well deserved rest no doubt. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he's got a few more tricks up his sleeve. After all you never know what a chap like that might get up to in retirement. Perhaps he'll pen a tell all memoir? Now that would be a read! I'd have to watch out for some of my operations in the past in those chapters.
The Spy Who Loved Apple: A New Chapter
So there you have it. Another chapter closes in the Apple saga. Williams moves on Khan steps up and the world keeps turning. Let's hope Khan can handle the heat because as they say 'If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen!'. As for me? Well I've got a mission to attend to. Something about a rogue AI and a villain with a penchant for monologues. Duty calls!
