Another Day Another Dollar (or Million)
Right let's get down to brass tacks. The S&P 500 that barometer of capitalist shenanigans has been on a winning streak longer than my list of Bond girls. Nine straight positive sessions to be precise. The last time it was this consistent I was probably foiling Blofeld's latest scheme... or charming some countess in Monte Carlo. The Dow Jones not one to be outdone is also strutting its stuff. Naturally.
License to Thrill (and Invest)
Now I'm no M but even I can see this rally is a bit of a head scratcher. We've got tariffs flying around like poisoned darts and economists are starting to look as worried as a henchman facing my Walther PPK. But Mary Ann Bartels from Sanctuary Wealth seems to think the market is patching things up after some 'technical damage'. Volume is decent she says. 'Decent' isn't exactly my word of choice but I suppose it will do. A bit like a martini made with vodka not gin.
The Name's Bond Bull Bond
Of course even a bull market can't go on forever. As Frank Gretz at Wellington Shields rightly points out the S&P 50 day mark around 5700 is a logical point to pause for breath. 'Even bull markets don't go straight up,' he says. Truer words were never spoken. Though I can't say the same for my driving skills. Some people even say I drive too fast I say they are too slow...
Risky Business: Apples and Tariffs
Not everything is coming up roses mind you. Apple that purveyor of overpriced gadgets is whining about tariff related costs. $900 million! Honestly you'd think they were funding SPECTRE themselves. It just goes to show even the big boys aren't immune to a bit of economic turbulence. Just like I'm not immune to a well made martini...
A Martini of Contradictions
So here we are. A historic winning streak amidst economic uncertainty. It's enough to give even a seasoned spy a headache. As Gretz so eloquently puts it 'If half of your brain is technical and half fundamental … you probably have a migraine.' Indeed. It's like trying to decide whether to trust a beautiful woman with a suspicious accent. Is she a friend or foe? A lover or a killer? Only time will tell.
For Your Eyes Only (and Your Portfolio)
In the end the market much like a Bond villain's plot is often unpredictable. Stay sharp keep your wits about you and remember 'The name's Bond Bull Bond'. And always have an exit strategy. After all you never know when things might go boom! Remember only you can see how high you can fly...
