License to Grill: Musk vs. The Megabill
Right so it appears our friend Elon never one to shy away from a bit of…shall we say…robust discussion has set his sights on President Trump's latest financial magnum opus. Labeling it a 'DEBT SLAVERY bill,' no less. One has to admire his flair for the dramatic even if it's a tad… unsubtle. I've faced down villains with more tact and that's saying something. But perhaps this is the new face of espionage conducting political battles via social media. The world truly is not enough is it?
For Your Eyes Only: A Billionaire's Gambit
Musk flush with funds from his various enterprises (Tesla SpaceX – the usual) has pledged to make life difficult for any Republican who dares to back this bill. Now I've seen a few threats in my time usually delivered with a Walther PPK and a knowing smirk. Musk's method is somewhat less…refined. But make no mistake a billionaire's chequebook can be a powerful weapon. It seems our world is in desperate need of heroes even the unorthodox ones.
The Living Daylights: Senate Showdown
As the Senate grapples with this beast of a bill Musk is firing salvos from his social media perch. It's a rather modern form of warfare isn't it? No explosions no car chases (though I'm sure Musk has a Tesla that could handle one) just tweets. But don't underestimate the power of a well placed 280 character attack. Especially when it's backed by millions.
GoldenEye: House of Cards?
The real fireworks it seems could be in the House. With elections every two years those representatives are far more vulnerable to Musk's…persuasion. A well funded challenger can make all the difference. It's like a game of poker really. Musk is raising the stakes and we'll see who blinks first. I suppose 'no one lives forever' is a truth they should consider.
A View to a Kill: Renewable Energy Under Fire
Amidst all the political wrangling there's also the small matter of renewable energy. It appears this bill could kneecap the wind and solar industries. A bit of a conflict of interest perhaps given Tesla's involvement in solar panels? One does wonder if Musk's motives are entirely altruistic but regardless the cause seems like a noble one. I've always been a fan of things that are 'green'.
Die Another Day: The Porky Pig Party?
Musk's assessment of the political landscape is…colorful to say the least. A 'one party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!' One can't fault his imagination. But beneath the hyperbole there's a genuine concern about fiscal responsibility. Perhaps it's time for a new player on the field one who actually gives a damn about the people. I for one am always ready for a new game. After all the name's Bond James Bond.
