The System is Messed Up But Family is Forever

Listen up family. I've seen a lot in my life. I've raced cars outsmarted the law and built a family stronger than any engine. But this? This hits different. The government's coming after Social Security benefits for those who fell behind on their student loans. They're saying payments could be snatched as early as June. That's messed up. You mess with family you mess with me. But in this case they're messing with *your* family people who rely on that money just to get by. We’re talking about taking away from those who need it most. This ain't about cars it's about survival. Remember “I live my life a quarter mile at a time.” But a quarter mile don't mean much when you're struggling to pay the bills.

71% More Borrowers and They Still Want More?

I heard from the feds that there are over 2.9 million people over 62 with student loan debt as of early 2025. Seveny one percent more than in 2017! How's that for a quarter mile jump? Of those over 450,000 are in default and might be getting Social Security. They're going after up to 15% of your Social Security but they say they gotta leave you with at least $750. It's like saying “I’m gonna take your car but I’ll leave you the keys.” What good is that?

Where's the Respect? Show Some Notice!

They used to give you a 65 day heads up but now they seem to be cutting corners saying you should already know about this from before the world turned upside down. Well things change. Times change. People forget! They gotta send a warning at least 30 days before to your *current* address. If you moved call them so they know where you are. After all I told Brian “I don't have friends. I got family.” And you gotta keep in touch with family.

Fight Back: Don't Let Them Win!

When you get that notice don't just sit there like a blown engine. Fight it! You can argue financial hardship or if you have a pending loan discharge. If you don't fight they'll take what they want. But remember “It don’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning’s winning.” And winning here means keeping what's yours.

Dig Deep to Get Out of Default

The only way to be safe is to get current on those loans. Contact the Default Resolution Group and look into income driven repayment plans. If Social Security is all you got your payment might be zero. It's like nosing your car into a parking space. It's about finding the angle finding the way to make it work.

Family First Always

Look this ain't just about money it's about family. It's about taking care of each other. If you're struggling reach out. Talk to someone. We're all in this together. Remember “You never turn your back on family…even when they do.” We'll figure this out together.

Income-driven repayment plans might be the answer for some.
