The Rich Get Richer Family?
Family let's talk about this new tax cut. See they say family is everything and I believe that. But this deal? It looks like it's only benefiting one kinda family – the ones already sitting pretty. This new analysis says the top 1% of U.S. households are gonna see an average tax cut of about $66,000 in 2026. That's a whole lotta Nos… I mean nitrous!
State Lines and Fat Wallets
It ain't just about being rich it's about where you plant your roots. Places like Wyoming South Dakota and Texas? They're handing out tax breaks like they're Dom's Corona at a family BBQ. Some of these folks could see their tax bills drop by over $100,000 a year! It's like they're shifting gears into ludicrous speed while the rest of us are stuck in neutral.
No Income Tax No Problem. Right?
This Carl Davis fella he's saying these states are 'classic examples' of where the wealthy get off easy. No state income tax? Sounds like a highway to easy street for these high rollers. Remember it don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning. And right now these guys are winning big.
4 Trillion Reasons to be Concerned
This whole deal? It's over $4 trillion in tax cuts over the next decade. And guess who's getting the biggest slice of that pie? Not the folks who need it most that's for sure. They're even cutting programs like Medicaid and food stamps! It's like they're robbing Peter to pay Paul... and then taking Paul's ride while they're at it.
Salt in the Wound (and on the Road)
They capped the amount you can deduct for state and local taxes but it is not family. But if you're living in a state like Wyoming where you ain't paying state income tax anyway who cares? It's like they're playing favorites and some of us are stuck watching from the sidelines. Family sticks together. Except when taxes are involved apparently.
California Dreaming (of Lower Taxes)
Meanwhile out in California and New Jersey the wealthiest folks are only seeing a fraction of the tax cut. We live our lives a quarter mile at a time but this tax cut is more like an eighth of an inch for some people. It's a complicated situation but one thing's for sure: family comes first. And we gotta make sure all families get a fair shot not just the ones with the deepest pockets. Let's hope we can find a way to fix this mess.
