Amazon and other tech giants are eyeing AI to replace workers, but is it a threat or a chance to upgrade? Dom's got a few things to say about family... and the future.
Amazon and other tech giants are eyeing AI to replace workers, but is it a threat or a chance to upgrade? Dom's got a few things to say about family... and the future.

Family... And Algorithms?

Let me tell you something. Family’s everything. But even family needs a little fine tuning sometimes right? I read this article about Amazon Microsoft Google and even Klarna. Seems like they're all looking at AI to 'streamline' things. Efficiency gains they call it. Sounds a lot like replacing good people with fancy computers. Family don't turn on family... but corporations? That's a different story.

Horsepower vs. Gigabytes

This Amazon CEO Jassy says they'll need 'fewer people doing some jobs.' Fewer people? That's like taking the engine out of my Charger and expecting it to still win a race. AI might be fast but can it feel? Can it adapt? Can it drive a quarter mile in under 10 seconds? I doubt it. But the expert from Global Workplace Analytics Kate Lister makes a point. Are they laying people off cause of AI or are they just trying to look good for investors? Either way it stinks of a blown head gasket.

Skills Upgrade: From Wrench to Keyboard?

This Lister chick is right about one thing: upgrading skills. It ain’t just about knowing how to hotwire a car anymore. Gotta know how to outsmart the machines too. She says administrative and customer service jobs are in danger. Maybe it's time for everyone to learn how to build an engine... or maybe code one. I don't know. What I do know is that sitting around and waiting for the AI to take your job ain't gonna cut it.

Blue Collar Muscle vs. White Collar Worries

So this Nich Tremper guy from Gusto says blue collar jobs are safer. Makes sense. Can an AI fix a blown turbo? Can it weld a roll cage? Can it feel the road? I don't think so. But don't get cocky blue collar boys and girls. The machines are coming for everything eventually. Remember what Han said 'Life's simple. You make choices and you don't look back.' But you gotta look *ahead* too.

Burnout or Binary Code?

Lister says AI could reduce burnout and streamline productivity. Maybe she's right. Maybe AI can handle the busywork so we can focus on what matters: family loyalty and pushing the limits. But and this is a big but she also foresees a lot of unemployment. That's like flooring it with no brakes. Dangerous.

The Finish Line: Is AI Really There Yet?

So is it time to panic? Nah. Lister says AI still has a long way to go. It can't fully replace us... yet. But it’s going to hurt some people. That's why we gotta look out for each other family. We gotta adapt learn and maybe even teach these machines a thing or two about what it really means to live. Now who's up for one last ride? And maybe we should learn to code while we're at it... just in case.
