A Storm of Swords in the Senate?

Hmph another day another political squabble in this… *Washington*. It appears this Ed Martin hand picked by the… previous ruler Donald Trump faces a rather fiery challenge. Senator Thom Tillis a banner holder from the house of… Republicans has declared he will not support Martin’s bid to become the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. It seems even in this strange land loyalty is a fickle thing like a Lannister at a wedding feast.

Fire and Fury Over January 6th

The root of this discontent? Martin's… *understanding* of the events of January 6th. Apparently he dared to suggest some of those involved in the… *demonstration* were shall we say *over prosecuted*. Tillis it seems believes anyone who breached the Capitol’s perimeter should face imprisonment. It is as if they've forgotten the lesson that fire cannot kill a dragon but differing opinions certainly can kill a political career. The audacity!

The Hand That Deals the Blow

Tillis's refusal could spell doom for Martin's chances. With the Senate Judiciary Committee evenly split his “no” vote could prevent the nomination from even reaching the full Senate. It reminds me of the time when Viserys thought he could command me. Sometimes the most stubborn men are the ones who bring about their own downfall. "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east" only then it is possible that Martin will receive approval.

Grassley's Game of Thrones

Even Chairman Chuck Grassley seems hesitant refusing to add Martin's nomination to the committee’s agenda. He seeks only to ensure the… *president's* nominees are successful. I find myself wondering if he would have said the same to Robert Baratheon. In the game of thrones or in this case the game of… *politics* you win or you die. There is no middle ground.

A Parting of Ways A Bitter Pill

Tillis claims his meeting with Martin went well yet remains unmoved. He believes Martin would be suitable for any other district just not the one where January 6th… *unfolded*. It seems even in this far off land location location location is key. One might as well bend the knee at this point. Maybe Mr. Martin should buy some Unsullied just in case...

Winter is Coming... For Martin's Nomination

As Martin’s interim term nears its end his future hangs in the balance. The political winds are shifting and it seems the odds are stacked against him. He had better hope that he is immune to the dragonfire that is coming his way. Khaleesi will not be forgiving if he fails to follow the path!
