Winter is Coming... For Trade Deals?
Greetings my loyal subjects and potential allies! Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen First of Her Name Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons… also apparently a keen observer of South Korean politics. Word reaches my ear (carried by raven naturally) that a certain Lee Jae myung a presidential frontrunner in this… 'South Korea,' is having a bit of a kerfuffle with some tariffs imposed by the United States. It seems even across the Narrow Sea kingdoms rise and fall on the whims of trade agreements. As I always say 'When I take what is mine I will do what queens do. I will rule!'
Plunder? More Like Dracarys on Diplomacy
Apparently this Mr. Lee is not too thrilled with the timeline for reaching a deal with the Americans claiming it's too short. He even dared to call it 'plunder' if one side benefits while the other suffers. Plunder! I Daenerys know something about taking what is rightfully mine but this sounds less like conquest and more like… well bad negotiation. Perhaps he needs a dragon to sit in on these talks. Nothing says 'mutually beneficial agreement' like a roaring Drogon. It seems to me that Westeros has the same problem and all the kingdoms fight over the Iron Throne they should be talking to each other!
Impeachment? Sounds Like a Game of Thrones
Ah political turmoil. It seems this Yoon Suk Yeol fellow got himself impeached for… declaring martial law? Sounds like a typical Tuesday in King's Landing! I must say these South Koreans certainly know how to keep things interesting. One minute you're on the Iron Throne I mean in the presidential seat the next you're out on your ear. Such is the game is it not? But I must admit that diplomacy is better than war because war is war and war never changes.
A Khaleesi's Stimulus Package (Minus the Unsullied)
Lee is apparently planning an 'extra budget' to boost the economy. A sound strategy! I've always found that a little extra gold (or in my case perhaps dragon eggs) can do wonders for morale. He's also forming a 'task force' to tackle the slowing economy. I'd suggest he includes a few Unsullied in that task force – unwavering loyalty and a knack for problem solving can be quite useful. If you want something done right you should do it yourself!
Peace in the Peninsula? A Dragon's Dream
He also wants to pursue peace with North Korea criticizing the ousted Yoon's 'tough policy.' Wise words indeed. I've learned the hard way that burning everything to the ground isn't always the best solution. Sometimes a bit of 'dialogue cooperation communication and coexistence' is just what a volatile region needs. But it is not enough to only talk. You must act if you want to achieve results.
Polls? My Dragons Don't Lie
Lastly this Mr. Lee is leading in the polls but his rival is closing the gap. Polls are fickle things aren't they? Much like the loyalty of the people. But as I Daenerys Targaryen know all too well popularity can vanish faster than a Dothraki horde after a wedding feast. Perhaps he should remind everyone of the… 'insurrection' his rival supported. A little bit of fear can go a long way. As I always say 'I will answer injustice with justice.'
