Okay maybe not but Meta's teaming up with Oakley and Prada to bring us some seriously souped up smart glasses. After the surprisingly awesome success of their Ray Ban collab they're aiming for a wider audience. Remember when Fury said 'Last time I trusted someone I lost an eye?' Well maybe he should have trusted someone with smart glasses! These things might actually save the world one stylish selfie at a time.

Oakley: For the Athlete Who Needs a Heads Up Display

So the first drop is Oakley! Yeah I know Goose's sunglasses in Top Gun. These are being designed specifically for athletes. I guess someone at Meta saw folks recording themselves playing tennis and thought 'Hey we can capitalize on this!' These glasses are rumored to be tougher and more weather resistant than the Ray Bans. I'm guessing they can probably handle a rogue Kree missile or two although I wouldn't recommend testing that. Think of them as your personal Jarvis... for your face. I wonder if they can calculate the trajectory of a perfect Photon Blast…for research purposes of course.

Now for the fashion forward folks among us (and let's be honest even I appreciate a good power suit) Meta's linking up with Prada. This is a big deal! We are talking about the devils favorite brand! According to some ex Meta folks Prada's thick temples are perfect for housing all the tech. So you can look fabulous while secretly recording your arch nemesis's evil monologue. It's a win win! I'm picturing myself now rocking a pair of Prada smart glasses effortlessly identifying alien artifacts while simultaneously looking like I just stepped off the runway. Because you know multitasking is my superpower.

EssilorLuxottica has licenses with like a gazillion brands so Meta is not playing games here. Since the Ray Ban Meta glasses hit the shelves in 2023 they've sold over 2 million pairs! The Meta Luxottica agreement is worth $5 BILLION! I've punched through space ships for less. They’re even working on a third generation pair with a tiny display in the lens. Talk about augmented reality! Next thing you know we'll have glasses that can translate Skrull gibberish in real time. The future is now people.

Of course Meta isn't the only player in the game. Alphabet is teaming up with Warby Parker (who?) and Snap is releasing their sixth generation smart glasses. It's an all out war for your eyeballs! But let's be real can these other guys shoot photon blasts from their glasses? I didn't think so. Meta is leading the charge and while competition is good I'm confident that these new glasses are going to be so powerful and fashionable that they'll practically be a superpower upgrade.
