Beam Me...Wait Drive Me to the Beach!

Hey Starforce cadets and Earthlings! Captain Marvel here reporting for duty...and vacation planning! With those pesky Kree (and airline prices) making intergalactic travel a headache I've been scouting out some prime terrestrial destinations. Turns out Earth has some seriously awesome islands you can drive to! No need to worry about fluctuating flight prices or Thanos's parking fees this time. According to some Earth expert named Hilary Fischer Groban road trips offer a chance to slow down and unplug. Which is exactly what I need after saving the galaxy for the 17th time this year.

Jekyll Island: Driftwood Dreams (No Superpowers Required)

First stop Jekyll Island Georgia. Apparently it's got this Driftwood Beach thing going on with all these funky tree limbs. Sounds like a good place to practice my binary powers. Fischer Groban says it's a 'Travelers' Choice Best of the Best winner'. High praise! And it gets 47% more attraction pageviews than the next popular spot. Move over Savannah Jekyll Island is coming in HOT!

South Padre Island: Sunshine Waterparks and Zero Skrulls (Probably)

Next up South Padre Island Texas. 30 miles of beaches and 74 degree weather? I'm in! This island is only accessible via the Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge. It also has a Beach Waterpark. It is apparently the leading attraction of the island. Sure hope there are no Skrulls there. But even if there are I will find them!

The Florida Keys: Key Lime Pie and Infinity Stone Free Zones

The Florida Keys a classic! You can drive to about 40 of the islands. Boating snorkeling scuba diving and fishing are main attractions I would probably stick to flying above the water though. Also there is Key West the southernmost city in the continental U.S. that is actually closer to Cuba than Miami. Just don't expect to find any Infinity Stones. I checked already.

Georgia and Michigan Islands: No Passport? No Problem!

Tybee Island Georgia is close to Savannah and is another good spot for sandy beaches. Plus there's a super old lighthouse built in 1736! I bet I could fly to the top faster than climbing the stairs though. In Michigan Mackinac Island is car free. So you have to walk bike or ride a horse drawn taxi to get around. That sounds nice and relaxing. A good change of pace from blasting through space at warp speed.

Outer Banks: The Only Banks Worth Visiting (Besides Space Banks)

Lastly the Outer Banks of North Carolina are where it's at! Hundreds of miles of barrier islands with stunning beachfront. Tourism is the top industry with the Outer Banks welcoming more than five million visitors each year. Sounds like the perfect place to recharge my photon blasts and soak up some sun. So there you have it Earthlings! My top picks for drive to island vacations. Remember the best adventures are often right here at home... or at least within driving distance. Captain Marvel signing off! Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to find my aviator sunglasses and a good road trip playlist.
