Hey Starforce! Carol Danvers here reporting live from... well Earth. You know the place I try to protect when I'm not busy saving other galaxies from Kree shenanigans. Turns out even on a relatively peaceful planet things can get pretty complicated. Especially when it comes to old habits of the fossil fuel industry or people stuck in the past. And to think I've battled Ronan the Accuser... This is something else.

Trump Takes Aim at California's EV Dreams

So here's the deal. Apparently a certain former president let's just call him 'Orange Skull,' has decided that electric vehicles are the enemy. No seriously! He's been going around signing resolutions to undo California's plan to go electric. California wanted to phase out gas guzzlers by 2035. Seems reasonable right? Fewer emissions cleaner air less of a need for me to clean things up later after emissions worsen our atmosphere. Twelve other states had signed on too probably because fresh air is cool and great. But Orange Skull? Not so much. He claims California's plan is a 'disaster' and that he's 'rescuing' the auto industry. Sounds like a job for Captain Marvel right?

Big Auto's Dirty Little Secret

Now here's where things get a little shady. Turns out some big auto companies like General Motors and Toyota were whispering in Orange Skull's ear telling him to ditch the EVs. Why? Probably because change is hard and building electric cars is a different ballgame. I get it. I've had to learn new fighting styles and powers but sometimes you have to evolve! And unlike a Skrull invasion this is a problem we can see coming.

Blame Game Strong

Orange Skull is blaming the Biden administration for giving California 'dictatorial powers' over the car industry. You know because wanting clean air is totally a dictatorship move. California's Governor Gavin Newsom is firing back accusing 'big polluters' and the 'right wing propaganda machine' of buying off the Republican Party. It's like watching a political drama only with less interesting costumes (sorry politicians but you're no Yon Rogg). This is like something that would be on Knowhere only not as weird!

Biden Steps In (Hopefully)

The Biden administration to their credit had previously given California a waiver to set its own emissions standards. Hopefully they’ll step in and undo this mess. Because frankly I'm tired of having to fly around cleaning up everyone's pollution. I've got galaxies to save! I have a duty to keep the cosmos safe especially planet earth! And as a wise person once said: 'I have nothing to prove to you.'

The Future is Electric (and Hopefully Not Orange)

Look the future is electric. It's cleaner it's more sustainable and it's where we need to be if we want to keep Earth habitable. Orange Skull can try to drag us back to the Stone Age of gas guzzling dinosaurs but he's not going to succeed. The energy of the future is not to be feared but embraced and used. This is what I hope will happen! Now if you'll excuse me I have a galaxy to protect. But I'll be keeping an eye on this whole EV situation. After all 'Higher Further Faster' applies to progress too not just flying!
