Why Rum is Better Than Oil (But Oil Pays the Bills)

Savvy investors be searchin' for opportunities in the oil and natural gas space aye? Patrick Fruzzetti of Rose Advisors a name fancier than any pirate I know reckons EOG Resources is a good buy despite the shall we say *ebb* in oil prices. 'A premium driller,' he calls 'em. Sounds like a rum distiller to me but I suppose gold doubloons ain't made of rum are they? 'It's always worth havin' some exposure,' he says 'in your portfolio.' Smart man. Keeps the Kraken at bay that does.

Boom Goes the Cannon! Defense Stocks Set to Soar?

Now Sheila Kahyaoglu of Jefferies (another fancy name!) she's surprised the defense stocks ain't jumped higher than a monkey with a stolen jewel. But fear not me hearties! The 'Big Beautiful Bill' – sounds like a galleon fit for a king! – could bring a tailwind to the likes of RTX Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. Seems old Trump wants to spend 150 billion shiny doubloons on defense. 'Golden Dome' project he calls it. Probably needs a better view of the horizon eh? Still means more bang for your buck literally! As I always say 'Why is the rum always gone?' BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP BUYING IT! Same principle applies to defense savvy?

Elbit Systems and Kratos: The Underdog Privateers?

These two be getting' investor attention too apparently. Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions. Names that roll off the tongue like a spilled cask of rum! Keep an eye on these mates. Sometimes the smallest ships carry the biggest cannons. After all not all treasure is silver and gold mate.

Industrial Strength: More Than Just Cogs and Gears

Keith Lerner of Truist (these landlubbers love their fancy titles!) says industrials are leading the way. 'Industrials lead by defense continues to be something that will have a big,' says he. And get this... he says it's an 'indirect AI play.' Indirect? I like things direct like a cannonball to the stern! 'Take what ye can! Give nothin' back!' AI needs cooling apparently and that's where the industrials come in. Who knew computers needed a pint to stay frosty?

Small Caps: The Hidden Coves of Investment

Daniel Morris of BNP Paribas bless his soul sees treasure hidden in the Russell 2000. 'Diversified access to U.S. growth,' he says. Sounds like a map leading to buried gold doesn't it? While the S&P 500 is strutting about the Russell 2000 is lurking in the shadows ready to pounce. 'Not all treasure is silver and gold mate,' I always say. Sometimes it's in the small things… like a perfectly timed mutiny!

So Where's the Treasure? (And the Rum?)

So there you have it me hearties! Oil defense and small caps. Three islands on the investment map each with its own buried treasure. Remember though 'The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem.' Keep a weather eye on the horizon invest wisely and never… NEVER… run out of rum. Savvy?
