By Hera What's Happening With the Economy!

Greetings mortals! Wonder Woman here reporting live from the front lines of… well not war this time but something equally perilous: the economy! It seems our friend Donald Trump is facing some rather turbulent times and not the kind that require my trusty Invisible Jet. According to the latest CNBC All America Economic Survey his economic approval numbers are lower than Ares's chances of winning a peace prize. Honestly even Steve Trevor would be worried and that's saying something! Apparently the post reelection economic optimism has vanished like a gorgon's reflection in a mirror. More people believe the economy is headed south than Aphrodite has admirers! And there's a sharp turn towards pessimism about the stock market. I mean even I know that's not good and I once tried to pay for a gyro with Amazonian gold (long story!).

Approval Ratings Sinking Faster Than I Can Say 'Great Hera'!

The survey which polled a thousand Americans revealed that 44% approve of Trump's handling of the presidency while 51% disapprove. Now I'm no mathematician (I usually leave that to Cyborg) but even I can see that's not exactly a resounding endorsement. On the economy a mere 43% approve and a whopping 55% disapprove. This is the first time in any CNBC poll that he's been net negative on the economy while in office. Ouch! That's gotta sting worse than a hydra's bite. His Republican base is still clinging on tighter than I hold onto my Lasso of Truth but Democrats are more negative than a Batman convention and independents are starting to look around for alternative leadership. Remember "in a world of ordinary mortals you are a wonder woman." But even a wonder woman needs allies!

Blue Collar Blues!

And here's a kicker: blue collar workers who were crucial to Trump's reelection are starting to feel the pinch. They're still somewhat positive but their disapproval numbers have jumped higher than I can leap over a skyscraper! According to Jay Campbell from Hart Associates people aren't liking what they're seeing. Well duh! I could've told you that and I spend most of my time fighting supervillains and promoting world peace. Seriously folks if the working class ain't happy nobody's happy. As I always say "fighting doesn't make you a hero."

Tariffs: More Trouble Than They're Worth?

Tariffs seem to be a major source of discontent. Americans broadly disapprove of them believing they're bad for American workers inflation and the overall economy. Even some Republicans are raising an eyebrow. I mean come on even I know that isolating yourself isn't the best approach. Remember what my mother Hippolyta always said: "We are not your masters nor do we claim to be your masters." It's all about partnership and fair trade! Plus folks see Canada Mexico the EU and Japan as opportunities not threats. Except maybe for that one time when Canada tried to claim maple syrup as a strategic weapon… but that's a story for another day!

Recession Looming Like Ares on a Bad Day!

Brace yourselves people because the dreaded 'R' word is making a comeback. A staggering 57% of the public believe we're either heading into or already in a recession. That's worse than the time Cheetah gave me a bad haircut! The public also disapproves of Trump's handling of government spending and foreign policy. It's not all doom and gloom though. He's getting some love for his stance on immigration and deportation. Even some Democrats are grudgingly giving him a thumbs up on border security. Progress I suppose? As I always say "It's not about what you deserve it's about what you believe. And I believe in common sense!"

Stock Market Blues and the Road Ahead!

Finally the stock market is making everyone nervous. More than half of Americans think it's a bad time to invest. That's a dramatic shift from the optimism that greeted Trump's election. But here's the thing: despite all this economic anxiety it's not necessarily translating into a landslide victory for the Democrats in Congress. The numbers remain stubbornly close. So what's the takeaway? Well folks it seems like we're in for a bumpy ride. But remember even in the darkest of times there's always hope. Just like I tell Steve when he has to fly the invisible jet "Only love can truly save the world." And a healthy dose of economic common sense of course! Wonder Woman signing off to go make a nice smoothie and ponder the mysteries of the global economy. Stay vigilant my friends!
