Red Eye Blues: My Flight Got Cancelled!
Okay Swifties let's just say my meticulously planned 'Summer of Freedom' tour prep took an unexpected detour. Apparently the skies over the Middle East are giving 'Bad Blood' vibes and airlines are responding with a resounding 'We Are Never Ever Ever Getting There... for now!' Delta bless their hearts suspended service to Tel Aviv until September. September! That's like an eternity in Swiftie time! Just when I thought I could sneak in a quick hummus run between songwriting sessions. Honestly this news hit me harder than the bridge in 'All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault)'. It's giving major 'I Did Something Bad' energy but like from world events not me this time!
United We Stand… Grounded
United Airlines is also feeling the heat halting Tel Aviv flights until at least Saturday. I heard their Tel Aviv bound flights did a dramatic 'U Turn' over the Atlantic. Can you imagine? One minute you're sipping your complimentary ginger ale dreaming of the Dead Sea and the next you're back over New Jersey wondering if you packed enough snacks for the flight back. They even had to put their crew on El Al to get them back to the U.S. which is a whole other level of logistical nightmare. This is why I prefer private jets. Just kidding… mostly!
El Al arm Bells: Israel's Airline Hits Pause
Speaking of El Al even they’ve grounded their flights! Apparently closing Israeli airspace is the new black. They're not even taking bookings until the end of June and are warning people to stay away from the airport. It's like the world is singing 'You Need To Calm Down,' but the problem is I *am* calm! Well calmer than usual anyway. But seriously recommending people find accommodation *abroad* until things chill out? That’s like something out of a movie!
Global Impact: It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (Tour)
Turkish Airlines Wizz Air Lufthansa Emirates… the list goes on! Everyone is rerouting or canceling flights. Lufthansa is playing the long game suspending flights until July! July! It's like they're stuck in the 'exile' chapter of their travel planning. Emirates is canceling flights to all sorts of places. I hope my globetrotting Swifties are prepared to roll with the punches because 'the best people in life are free' and sometimes that means free from the constraints of a planned itinerary!
Travel Vouchers and Waived Fees: A Band Aid on a Broken Itinerary
Okay so airlines are offering travel vouchers and waiving change fees. Which is nice I guess. It's like getting a friendship bracelet after someone borrowed your favorite cardigan and never returned it. It helps a little but you're still missing that cardigan and I am still missing my trip to Israel. 'Long Story Short,' I need a new plan!
Avoiding Conflict Zones: The 'Long Pond Studio Sessions' of Air Travel
Escalating conflicts are forcing airlines to take longer more expensive routes. It’s like turning a three minute pop song into a ten minute epic just to avoid the 'Trouble' sections. Honestly I feel for them. I really do. But maybe they can all just 'Shake It Off' and find a way to make sure we can all get our falafel fix eventually!
