A Cybertronian Update From Above

Greetings fellow travelers! Optimus Prime here reporting live from... well not Cybertron but the ever evolving digital landscape of Earth. I've observed a rather... intriguing development in your airborne transportation systems. It appears the humans are finally catching up with the Autobots in terms of connectivity! Yes you heard right. American Airlines is now offering free Wi Fi to its AAdvantage loyalty program members starting in January. One shall stand one shall (stream) free!

Wi Fi Wars: Autobots vs. Decepti Conductors!

For far too long accessing the internet mid flight has been a luxury a privilege akin to finding an Energon cube in a desert wasteland. But now the tides are turning. JetBlue and Delta started this trend and now American Airlines is joining the fight for digital freedom backed by AT&T. Even United Airlines is getting in on the action with SpaceX's Starlink. It's like the Autobots and Decepticons battling for control of the AllSpark but instead of ultimate power it's just... faster loading times. Still important though! This sounds like more than meets the eye!

The $20 Ransom: No More!

Remember those days of exorbitant Wi Fi fees where a single email could cost you more than a small drone? American Airlines inflight Wi Fi routinely tops $20 per flight! Those days my friends are numbered. Soon you can bid farewell to the tyranny of overpriced connectivity. This I believe is a victory worth fighting for!

Satellite Shenanigans: 90% Coverage Achieved!

American Airlines plans to have roughly 90% of its fleet outfitted with Intelsat and Viasat satellite Wi Fi by next year. That's a considerable upgrade! Of course some of the older Boeing wide bodies might be left out in the cold but hey even Optimus Prime needed an upgrade now and then. It appears AA had been testing the service on certain routes. I suppose this makes sense they needed to test it out.

Regional Rumble: High Speed Coming Soon!

Not content with just long haul flights American Airlines is also installing high speed internet on 500 regional planes by the end of next year. This means faster downloads on those quick intercity hops. This commitment to a connected world is quite commendable. It's like upgrading from a rusty blaster to a state of the art plasma cannon!

Southwest: The Lone Wolf?

Ah Southwest Airlines... the holdout. They have not yet said whether they are considering free Wi Fi. It's like trying to convince Megatron to share his Energon stash. Time will tell if they join the revolution. Either way Autobots remain vigilant! The quest for a truly connected world is an ongoing battle. And remember freedom is the right of all sentient beings... and their smartphones!
