Captain Marvel investigates how bridal shops are battling Trump's tariffs, leaving brides in a 'sticker shock' nightmare.

Kree ate a Crisis: Tariffs Take the Cake!

Greetings Earthlings! Your friendly neighborhood Captain Marvel here reporting live from… well not space today. Turns out even intergalactic heroes have to deal with earthly problems. And speaking of problems have you heard about these tariffs? Apparently some guy named Trump decided to slap a 145% tariff on imports from China and now bridal shops are screaming louder than Ronan the Accuser at a karaoke night. I'm starting to wonder if this is Thanos's plan to destabilize Earth! First he takes our stones. Now he takes our weddings?!

Higher Higher Prices on Fire!

So picture this: You're a bride to be dreaming of that perfect dress. But thanks to these tariffs that dress is now pricier than a Kree warship. Bridal boutiques are struggling because almost all gowns are made in China (or other parts of Asia). One shop owner Denise Buzy Pucheu even made a video explaining how this mess is messing with the bridal biz. I get it Denise. It's like trying to explain quantum physics to a Skrull – complicated and no one wants to hear it!

Skrull duggery in the Supply Chain!

Now you might be thinking 'Carol why should I care about wedding dresses?' Well it's not just about the dresses it's about the whole darn system! These tariffs are hitting all sorts of small businesses. Plus who knew 90% of wedding dresses are made in China? That's more surprising than finding out Goose is actually a Flerken! The National Bridal Retailers Association is begging for an exemption which basically means they're sending SOS signals faster than I can fly lightspeed.

Beam Me Up... Or Just Move Production!

But not everyone is throwing in the towel. Some big names like Stephen Lang are losing sleep but also starting petitions. Others are just straight up moving production to places like Myanmar and Vietnam. David's Bridal is leading the charge trying to get all their stuff out of China faster than I can say 'Photon Blast!' They're even using AI to cut costs – smart move because let's face it AI is less likely to start an intergalactic war than say Ronan the Accuser. But David's Bridal is also moving production from China to places with lower tariffs.

Sticker Shockwave: The Costly Reality

Okay real talk: Wedding dresses are already expensive. The average bride spends over $2,000 on a gown and weddings can cost upwards of $30,000! With these tariffs we're looking at 'sticker shock' that could knock you out faster than a punch from yours truly. Some shops are adding tariff surcharges. Which means that dream dress will also come with the nightmare cost of a 15% retail price increase on average.

Anne Barge's Bold Escape!

Atlanta based Anne Barge is pulling a reverse Ronan and leaving China altogether! Their CFO said if they stayed prices would skyrocket faster than my energy levels after a good flight. They even opened a manufacturing facility in Atlanta hiring skilled immigrants to sew those fancy dresses. But they said and I quote 'Making those dresses and maintaining their under $3,000 price points in the U.S. wouldn't be possible.' It's like trying to fit a Tesseract in your pocket – just not gonna happen!

I'm all for protecting American businesses, but not at the expense of ruining people's weddings.
