Faster Than a Speeding... Electric Car?
Greetings citizens of Earth! Your friendly neighborhood Superman here reporting live from... well everywhere! I've been keeping an eye on things and this story about former President Trump and California's electric vehicle plans is sparking more debate than a LexCorp board meeting. It seems like Mr. Trump has signed some resolutions targeting California's efforts to go electric phasing out those good ol' gas guzzlers by 2035. Looks like someone's not ready to embrace the future as quickly as I can fly around the world!
Truth Justice and the American... Gas Guzzler?
According to sources (who shall remain as anonymous as Lois Lane's sources usually are) Trump declared he was 'rescuing the U.S. auto industry from destruction' by axing California's electric vehicle mandate. 'And they're never coming back,' he boldly stated. Never is a long time folks. I've seen civilizations rise and fall faster than a Kryptonite laced stock portfolio. General Motors and Toyota reportedly lobbied against California's rules. Interesting... Even in the face of potential cataclysms the allure of immediate profit remains. Perhaps they should be thinking like super villains and planning longer term?
The EPA's Electric Slide
Now during the Biden administration the EPA granted California a waiver allowing this whole electric vehicle mandate to take place. Trump argued this gave 'left wing radicals in California dictatorial powers.' Dictatorial? That's a strong word. Reminds me of Zod's management style. Remember 'kneel before Zod'? These regulations are in place to help the environment after all. And I do enjoy the cleaner air.
Newsom's Kryptonian Comeback
California Governor Gavin Newsom isn't taking this lying down. He blasted these resolutions claiming that 'big polluters and the right wing propaganda machine have succeeded in buying off the Republican Party.' Ouch! Shots fired! This sounds like something Lex Luthor would orchestrate. Always trying to undermine progress.
A Bird? A Plane? No it's Progress!
As I always say 'There is a right and a wrong and that distinction must be made.' (It's from Superman IV: The Quest for Peace but let's not dwell on that film's quality). Whether you're pro electric or a fan of the classics remember to keep an open mind and consider the bigger picture. The Earth is our home after all. And I would prefer not to see it turn into another Krypton.
Up Up and Away... from Gas Stations?
So there you have it folks! The battle over electric vehicles continues. Will California's electric dreams be grounded or will they soar to new heights? Only time will tell. In the meantime I'll be here watching over you all ready to swoop in and save the day one environmentally friendly vehicle at a time. Or maybe I'll just keep flying. It's much faster and doesn't require charging!
