BYD Invades Europe! Will Dragons Be Next?!

Winter is Coming... to European Roads!

Hark loyal subjects! Your Queen Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen First of Her Name Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons brings tidings from across the Narrow Sea. It seems the Middle Kingdom or as some call it China is sending forth its own kind of dragon – the electric car! This BYD a beast of metal and battery dares to venture into the lands of Europe with its 'Denza' brand. A bold move wouldn't you say? It arrives amidst whispers of trade wars and tariffs. Will they bend the knee or will they face my (metaphorical of course as my dragons are currently indisposed) fire and blood?

The Z9GT: A Wagon Fit for a Khaleesi?

Their first steed of choice is the Z9GT a 'station wagon type car' as they call it. A wagon! Can you imagine me the Mother of Dragons tooling around in a wagon? Perhaps it could be modified. Dragon scale paint job maybe? Jorah would approve. They say it will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2025. By then I might have conquered Westeros… or at least figured out how to charge it without setting fire to King's Landing. Pricing remains a mystery. Are they trying to bankrupt the Lannisters or just offer a fair trade? Time will tell.

Daimler's Dance: A Westerosi Alliance?

Intriguingly this BYD once partnered with Daimler (now Mercedes Benz) a name that sounds suspiciously like one of those Free Cities bankers. They even have a seven seater called the D9. Seven seats! Enough room for my advisors Tyrion Varys (if he hadn't met an unfortunate end) Missandei Grey Worm and still space for a direwolf or two. Perhaps this Denza is not so different from my own quest forged in alliances and shifting loyalties.

Taxes and Trade Wars: A Game of Tariffs

The European Union in its infinite wisdom has slapped a 17% duty on these electric chariots. 'Unfair' subsidies they cry! It seems everyone wants a piece of the pie. Just like the Iron Throne this automotive market is a prize worth fighting for. Stella Li a key player in this venture speaks of excitement. I too felt excited when I hatched my dragons. Let’s hope BYD’s experience is less… volatile.

BYD's Burning Rubber (or Batteries)

The numbers speak for themselves. BYD has more than doubled its overseas sales! A testament to their ambition or perhaps to the world's growing need for alternatives to those dreadful smog belching contraptions of old. They even dare to challenge Tesla a name that sounds suspiciously like a Northern house strong in its own right but perhaps… not invincible. Could it be that BYD has finally found a way to "break the wheel" of automotive dominance?

A New Reign?

So what does this all mean my loyal subjects? It means the game is changing. New players are entering the field and old alliances are being tested. Just as I sought to bring a new era to Westeros BYD seeks to electrify Europe. Only time will tell if they succeed. But one thing is certain: the winds of change are blowing. And perhaps just perhaps one day they'll create an electric dragon worthy of the Targaryen name. Fire and… volts!
