I Have Spoken: CATL's Stock Goes Brrr
This is the Way! Shares of that battery manufacturer CATL went up over 18% on their Hong Kong debut. Eighteen percent! I’ve seen bounties smaller than that. Turns out everyone wants a piece of those electric speeders. It's like Beskar everyone wants it. Investors are betting this CATL can ride the electric vehicle boom and who am I to argue? I'm just a simple man making my way through the galaxy... and apparently the stock market.
More Credits Than Jabba's Palace
These CATL fellas managed to raise HK$35.7 billion in their IPO. That's more credits than Jabba the Hutt has in his palace! They're saying it's the largest global listing this year. Meanwhile my ship's still running on fumes. Maybe I should invest instead of chasing bounties. Nah too easy. This is the Way.
Europe's the New Outer Rim for Batteries
CATL plans to use that mountain of credits to build a factory in Hungary. Apparently Europe needs batteries for their electric buggies. Europe is where it is at CATL will supply batteries to Stellantis BMW and Volkswagen. That's like finding a new vein of Mandalorian iron! They figure China's already saturated so it's time to conquer new territory. Good for them I guess. Just try not to double cross anyone; that's my job.
Tariffs? I've Dealt with Worse
Of course it's not all smooth sailing. The U.S. and EU slapped tariffs on Chinese EVs citing 'unfair trade practices.' Seems like someone's been watching too many podraces. And there's talk about CATL being on some kind of watchlist due to supposed links to the Chinese military. Allegations they deny of course. Still I've seen worse spice deals go down on Nar Shaddaa.
Profits Up Despite the Competition
Even with all the drama CATL's net profit went up by 15% year over year. Fifteen percent! Now that's a successful hunt. They are facing competition in China's electric vehicle market. Everyone is trying to get their hands on a piece of the pie. But hey a Mandalorian never backs down from a challenge. This is the way.
Advisors Include Bank of America Goldman Sachs JPMorgan Chase
Bank of America China International Capital Corporation Goldman Sachs Morgan Stanely JPMorgan Chase were the joint lead mangers for the Hong Kong offering. That's a lot of people with their hands in the cookie jar. I prefer to work alone. It's just cleaner that way. This is the Way.
