A Little Chemistry Lesson in Economics
Well hello there. It's Walter White and I'm not just a chemistry teacher anymore am I? Seems like this economy is about to go through a little...transformation. Like turning lead into gold or in this case jobs into… well not jobs. Unemployment claims are up folks. A hefty 241,000 new claims last week. That’s not just bad; that’s 'stay out of my territory' bad. Remember respect the chemistry.
New York: The Empire State of Unemployment?
And where's a big chunk of this coming from? New York. Claims more than doubled there. Maybe they all finally realized that living in New York is like cooking meth: expensive stressful and probably bad for your health. Some egghead is saying it's the spring break but I'm thinking there's more to it than that. You think this is something? This? This chicanery?
GDP: Grossly Diminishing Product
GDP is down too. Dropped at an annualized rate of 0.3%. First contraction in three years. It's like when Jesse would try to cook without me. A disaster! Turns out too many imports and not enough spending. What's Trump doing anyway? Slacking off like Badger and Skinny Pete in the RV?
The Four Week Moving Average: Moving Where Exactly?
They try to smooth things over with a four week moving average. Climb of 5,500 to 226,000 they say. Sounds like a whole lot of nothing to me. Just a pretty number to distract from the fact that as usual no one knows what the hell they're doing. Like trying to reason with Tuco Salamanca! Futile!
Payroll Predictions: A Recipe for Disaster?
Now they're expecting the economy to add 133,000 jobs. Optimists I guess. Or maybe just delusional. Either way I'm not holding my breath. Remember hope is never a good plan especially when you're dealing with… uncertainty. Just like when you cook you need to know your percentages.

So what does it all mean? Well maybe it's time to start stocking up on canned goods. Or you know learning a useful skill. Like chemistry. After all a man provides.
