A Robotaxi Named Desire... or Is It Danger?
So Elon Musk huh? Remember when I was just cooking in an RV trying to provide for my family? Now this guy's sending driverless cars onto the streets of Austin. June 22nd he says. Tentatively. Sounds like a chemistry experiment gone slightly wrong doesn't it? Like 'Yeah it should work but maybe stand back just in case something blows up.' I can relate.
Driving Miss Daisy... If Miss Daisy Was a Computer
He's even got a Model Y painted black with 'Robotaxi' graffiti on it. Graffiti? Really? It’s like he's trying to appeal to the 'cool' crowd. News flash Elon if you want to be cool try wearing a Heisenberg hat. The eight second clip of the robotaxi stopping for pedestrians is cute. But what happens when it encounters a real problem? A rogue shopping cart? A stray dog? Or worse a rival trying to cut into his market. Think about it. We need to think outside the box.
Small Rollout Big Risks and 'Unsupervised' FSD? Seriously?
Musk talks about a 'very small rollout' – about 10 to 20 cars. And he's calling the FSD tech 'unsupervised'? Oh that's just begging for trouble. Sounds like my early days with Jesse only with more expensive consequences. Geofencing remote monitoring... it's all just damage control waiting to happen. Remember what happened when my batch went blue? This could be worse. A lot worse.
Heisenberg Principle Applied to Robotaxis: Uncertainty is Key
Then there's the man himself juggling Tesla SpaceX xAI... the guy's busier than me trying to outsmart Hank. And he's spending millions to get Trump back into the White House? Politics is a messy business. Stick to chemistry I say. Or maybe robotics if you’re into that kind of thing. But maybe I need to invest in this driverless car thing?
Dawn Project's Protest: 'Say My Name... Safety'
Of course not everyone is thrilled. The Dawn Project and other anti Musk groups are planning a protest. They're worried about safety and they have every right to be. Remember the devil is in the details. The CEO of Dawn Dan O'Dowd is also head of a competitor company. So I think there is some beef and hatred involved here. But that doesn't mean they don't have a point. And I am all about that.
Recalculating... a New Opportunity
So what's the takeaway? Musk is playing a dangerous game. High risk high reward. Just like my old business. Maybe I should give Jesse a call. We could get in on this Robotaxi game. 'Yeah Mr. White! Yeah Science!'. Think about it a robotaxi with no need to pay a driver. I am always in the lookout for new opportunities and ideas. Who's with me?
