Stay Out of My Territory… Secrets!

So Apple's in a bit of a pickle or should I say a barrel of hydrofluoric acid? Turns out some 'senior design engineer' named Di Liu thought he could waltz out of Cupertino with a few thousand documents tucked away in his digital pockets. Classic Heisenberg move except I was cooking up something far more valuable than overpriced gadgets. This Liu guy apparently took a gig at Snap those folks who brought us… what exactly? Disappearing pictures? Please. Talk about half measures!

A Two Week Cook... I Mean Transition Period

Apple bless their overly cautious hearts gave this guy a two week 'transition period'. A transition to what? Espionage? Seems like they should have consulted me. I could've shown them a thing or two about maintaining control. The suit claims Liu used this time to download files like a kid in a candy store. It’s like giving Jesse Pinkman the keys to the lab and expecting him not to sample the product. Predictable!

Proprietary Information... Yeah Bitch!

Now Apple's lawyers are flapping their gums about 'Proprietary Information'. Codenames technology product design… blah blah blah. I get it. You gotta protect your recipe. But let’s be honest most of that stuff is just smoke and mirrors. The real magic is in the execution. Ask Gus Fring – he knew how to package a product. Although maybe not the best role model considering… well you know.

The Heisenberg Defense: It Was For My Family!

Snap is playing dumb saying they have "no reason to believe" the guy is using Apple's secrets. Sure Jan. It's always the cover up that gets you. I bet this Liu guy is sitting in some dark room right now sweating bullets wondering if Tim Cook is about to show up at his door with a ricin cigarette. Personally I think he is just trying to provide for his family... Maybe.

Apple's Legal Eagle: Better Call Saul?

Apple wants damages and a forensic examination of Liu's devices. Good luck with that. If I were him I'd be wiping those hard drives cleaner than Jesse's conscience after a NA meeting. Maybe they should call Saul Goodman. He could probably spin this into a human interest story about a struggling engineer just trying to make a living. "He broke bad but not in a bad bad way". Although considering Saul's track record that might make things worse.

Say My Name... Apple!

Look this whole thing is just another reminder: power corrupts. Whether you're cooking meth in the New Mexico desert or designing the next must have gadget in Silicon Valley you gotta know who's boss. And in this case it’s Apple. They're the ones who knock. Now if you'll excuse me I have some… business… to attend to. And maybe a phone call to my lawyer. Just in case.
