Steady as a Roach: Inflation Holds Firm

Alright maggots Kerrigan here reporting from the infested trenches of the Australian economy. Seems like inflation is playing a game of hide and seek staying put at 2.4% in April. Health costs are up – those medpacks ain't cheap even for you Terrans! – and holiday travel? Apparently everyone's trying to escape the Zerg rush but fuel prices did drop so at least there's that. Think of it as a small consolation before the swarm descends!

Core Values or Core Problems?

The 'trimmed mean measure' – sounds like something Mengsk would cook up – shows core inflation at 2.8%. Still within the Reserve Bank's target range but let's not get complacent. Remember complacency kills! Just ask all those Marines I 'liberated' back on Mar Sara. The important thing is that it excludes volatile items which is not unlike excluding the fact that I was once a human... before I became the Queen of Blades!

Market Shrugs: 'Meh It's Just Goods'

The market's reaction? Muted. Apparently this report is all about goods not services. Typical Terran focus on material things! But the aussie dollar is where it needs to be sitting at 0.6440 and the bond futures are flat. Let them have their trinkets and markets my Zerg will feast on all!

RBA's Next Move: Cut 'Em Down?

The eggheads at EY reckon the Reserve Bank is itching to cut interest rates further. Seems the upside risks to inflation have vanished like a Ghost in the night. A rate cut in July is looking likely with August even more so. The Reserve Bank already lowered interest rates opening the door for further easing in the months ahead.

Jobs Jobs Jobs: Even in the Koprulu Sector!

The labor market is surprisingly resilient churning out jobs like a hatchery pumps out Zerglings. The jobless rate is low but wage growth is tepid. No wage price spiral here which is good because if there was I'd be spiraling out of control and crushing planets!

Health Holidays and Fuel: The Holy Trinity of Inflation

Health costs are up 4.4% thanks to rising insurance premiums. Holidays? A 5.3% jump due to Easter and school breaks. Fuel? Down 12%. Rental prices are still climbing but at a slower rate. Electricity is down 6.5% thanks to government rebates... so at least they're getting something right. Remember hope is the first step on the road to disappointment...but affordable electricity is always a nice bonus.
