Aviation Mayhem Like a Box of Chocolates

Mama always said "Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get." And boy was she right. These days travelin' is like that box – full of surprises and not always the good kind. This Zoey Gong person she was headin' to Shanghai all the way from Paris but then bam. Trouble in Iran. Her flight got messed up and she had to pay a whole lotta extra money like $1,600 just to get home. That's a lotta Bubba Gump shrimp money gone to waste. See it ain't just the folks near the trouble who are gettin' hit. It's reachin' folks all over. This whole mess is messin' with the travelin' business which is a really big deal for the whole world's money.

Stranded Travelers and Sky High Anxiety

This attack in Iran it caused a real "aviation quagmire," as some fancy travel guy called it. Over a million people were stuck and like 20,000 flights got canceled. That's a whole lotta folks singin' the blues. Some folks were even stuck on cruise ships just driftin' along. People are so worried they are buyin' extra insurance – the kind that lets you cancel for any reason. Guess they don't wanna be stuck like a pea in a pod. And those attacks weren't just in one place. They were happenin' all over even near Dubai which is like the busiest airport in the world. All this has airlines scratchin' their heads tryin' to figure out how to get folks home. The U.S. government is even tryin' to charter flights to rescue folks. It’s times like these you wish you could just run Forrest run away from all the trouble. Hotels and Cruise Ships Feeling the Heat

It ain't just the airlines no sir. Hotels are gettin' hit too. One hotel in Dubai the Fairmont even had debris fallin' near it. Thankfully nobody important got hurt. Another fancy hotel the Burj Al Arab caught fire 'cause of a drone. Cruise ships are havin' a tough time too. One ship with over 6,300 folks on board is stuck in Dubai and the cruise company is tryin' to get 'em flights home. They're even thinkin' about rentin' their own planes. But they say things are still "calm" on the ship. That's good I guess. But this whole thing is so bad the cruise company canceled all its other trips from Dubai for the winter. They figure it's better safe than sorry.

Worse Than 9/11 You Wouldn't Believe It If You Saw It

One travel expert this Henry Harteveldt fellow he said this is the worst thing to happen to travel since 9/11. And that was a really bad day let me tell you. He said this mess is reachin' farther and lastin' longer than anything he's ever seen. Now that's sayin' somethin'. I always thought gettin' lost in Vietnam was bad but this sounds even worse.

More Trouble Brewing Around the World

But wait there's more. It ain't just Iran. There was also trouble in Venezuela where the U.S. went and grabbed their president. That shut down the airspace in the Caribbean leavin' folks stranded at fancy resorts. Then in Mexico there was fightin' between the army and some bad guys which grounded flights there too. All this trouble is costin' airlines and hotels a lot of money. They're havin' to change flights give refunds and lower prices. And guess who ends up payin' for it all? You and me that's who. We'll be payin' more for tickets and hotels just like Mama always said "There's one thing I can say about actings it's that you can't be bad if you don't try."

A Bumpy Ride Ahead but Keep on Running

Even though things looked good at the start of the year with big airline companies saying they will earn record profits all this trouble is makin' things tough. Travelin' is important for a lot of places especially places like Mexico where it makes up a big part of their money. Now airlines are stoppin' flights to some of those places. Some hotels are also noticin' fewer bookings. But one hotel manager in Mexico said it's not as bad as the pandemic. So maybe things will get better. You just gotta keep runnin' Forrest runnin'. Sometimes all I think about is running. The world is like a puzzle and it’s up to everyone to figure out their place in it. Just keep moving keep learning and keep growing.
