From Lockup to Luxe: A Transformation Worthy of Axe Capital

Alright listen up. Some folks might think turning a former prison into apartments is like putting lipstick on a pig. But as I always say 'What's the point of having f*** you money if you can't say f*** you?' And in this case it's a big fat 'f*** you' to conventional thinking. This ain't just any prison; it's the old Lorton Reformatory in Virginia a place with more history than a goddamn museum. It held suffragists saw some dark days and then…poof! Fairfax County bought it and now it's the Liberty Crest Apartments. Talk about a glow up. I bet those old inmates are rolling in their graves wishing they'd invested in real estate instead of petty crime. Who would have thought that a place where people lost their liberty could become Liberty Crest apartments?

Turning Bars into Balconies: The Devil's in the Details

The Alexander Company these guys are smart. They took a place known for its 'Night of Terror' and turned it into a place where you can sip Pinot Grigio on your balcony. They saw potential where others saw a penitentiary. David Vos this development project manager he gets it. 'Abundance of light' and 'character'? That's how you sell a prison to people who probably wouldn't be caught dead within ten miles of the place back in the day. This project cost roughly $64 million. That's a drop in the bucket compared to what I’ve spent on shall we say 'alternative investments'. But hey good for them. Turning rust into gold that's the American dream right?

165 units a mix of one and two bedroom apartments with a chunk of 'em designated as affordable housing. See even I Bobby Axelrod can appreciate a little social engineering when it makes sense. Monthly rent ranging from $1,372 to $2,700. A steal! Especially when you consider the history. Plus in unit washer and dryer? That's luxury baby. No more smuggling laundry out in the dead of night like you're plotting an escape. The old cafeteria is now a community space. Yoga studio? Gym? Pool? Playgrounds? Sounds like the kind of place where you can work hard play hard and forget you're living in a former correctional facility. What is this? Orange is the New Chic?

Preserving the Past Profiting in the Present: Win Win

Of course not everyone was thrilled. Some folks were hung up on the 'mistreatment' part of the prison's history. Look I get it. But as I tell my people 'Loyalty is everything'. And in this case loyalty to the past means learning from it not letting it rot. So you preserve the signs the grandstand the reminders that this place wasn't always sunshine and lollipops. It's about honoring the past while making a damn good profit in the present. It's called business people. Look it up.

Liberty Crest: A Name with a Message and a Price Tag

'Liberating these buildings from its more recent dark past.' I like that. It's got a ring to it. They're even building more apartments out of the old power plant and guard quarters. These guys are relentless. I can respect that. The community loves it they say. Of course they do. Who wouldn't want to live in a piece of history that's been given a multi million dollar facelift? You have to spend money to make money. You've got to know when to hold 'em know when to fold 'em know when to walk away and know when to run like to the bank with your profits.

From being at the right place at the right time. But I did had a little help along the way. Someone should have offered me a discount code back in the day. 'EARLYBIRD'? Sounds like something Wags would come up with. Use it and thank me later. And sign up for their newsletter too while you're at it.
