Hola everyone! Leo Messi here your friendly neighborhood footballer and apparently a tech commentator now! I've been hearing some crazy news about this Trump guy and his tariffs on China. I mean I just want to kick a ball but suddenly I'm worried about the price of my iPhone 27! It seems like el Presidente was about to slap a massive 145% tariff on everything coming from China including the stuff that makes my fancy gadgets work. Imagine no more streaming replays of my goals! A true tragedy!

But hold on there's a twist! Apparently someone whispered in Trump's ear – maybe Tim Cook himself I picture him dribbling an iPhone around the White House – and now smartphones and computers are off the hook! Phew! My WhatsApp messages to Suárez are safe. Apparently this 'guidance' came late Friday night probably just as everyone was settling in for a relaxing weekend. Talk about a last minute save! Reminds me of that time I scored against Real Madrid in the 92nd minute… absolute pandemonium!

Chips Ahoy (and Exempted!)

It's not just phones and computers though. We're talking semiconductors solar cells even those little memory cards where I store all my pics with Antonela. All safe! It seems the US Customs and Border Protection decided that crippling Apple and everyone else wasn't such a great idea after all. "This is the dream scenario for tech investors," some guy named Dan Ives said. Sounds good to me! I invest in dreams and sometimes nightmares... like losing to Germany 7 1. Still gives me shivers.

Apparently Apple was sweating bullets. They make like 80% of their stuff in China! Can you imagine the chaos? They lost over 640 billion in market value! That’s like a *lot* of churros and mate. Apparently these 'big tech CEOs' yelled loud enough and the White House finally listened. Good thing because as Ives put it it would have been 'Armageddon for big tech'. And nobody wants Armageddon! Especially not when the Champions League is on.

Not So Fast Trade War!

Now before we start celebrating with a Messi style celebration – you know the one where I point to the heavens – let's remember that this might not be over. These exemptions could be temporary like my chances of finally winning the World Cup (don’t @ me!). But for now at least I can keep FaceTiming with my kids without having to sell my left boot to pay the tariff. Small victories people small victories.
