The Government's Ultimatum

Alright folks Captain America here reporting for duty. It seems like Washington's in a bit of a tiff with Harvard University. Now I've fought Red Skull Ultron and even Thanos but this whole contracts and funding battle? It's a new kind of complicated. The word on the street – well the official letter from the U.S. General Services Administration – is that they're looking to terminate all remaining federal contracts with Harvard. We're talking about a cool $100 million! Apparently they think Harvard's got some explaining to do about their admission process and diversity policies. 'Being a counterparty with the federal government comes with the deep responsibility,' they say. You bet it does just like wielding this shield!

Discrimination? In This Day and Age?

The heart of the matter? Allegations of 'race discrimination' by Harvard. Now I wasn't frozen in ice yesterday. I know the world ain't perfect and the fight for equality is one we gotta keep fighting every single day. But seeing these kinds of accusations thrown around... well it makes you wonder. Back in my day we just wanted everyone to work together to beat the bad guys no matter their background. Remember folks 'Whatever happens tomorrow you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are not a perfect soldier but a good man.' And that goes for institutions too.

International Student Showdown!

Things went from tense to downright frosty (no pun intended) when the administration banned Harvard from enrolling international students. It sounds a little like when they tried to stop me at the recruitment center back in the day. Thankfully a federal judge stepped in and put a temporary hold on that decision. Still it doesn't exactly scream 'land of the free,' does it?

The $2.2 Billion Freeze... Ouch!

So to recap: contracts on the chopping block international student bans and then they froze $2.2 billion in federal grants? Now that's a whole lotta moolah. The reason? Apparently Harvard wasn't too keen on the administration's demands to scrap their diversity programs and grill international students about their 'ideological concerns'. I think that's a lot to ask don't you? I'm just a soldier but even I know that's not the American way.

To Trade Schools We Go?

Now here's where things get interesting. President Trump suggested taking the frozen Harvard funds and 'giving it to TRADE SCHOOLS all across our land.' Hmm not sure how that will pan out but I think there's nothing wrong with going to trade school especially if it's for the right reason. If there's one thing I know it's that the world needs all kinds of skills to keep running. Plus a good tradesperson can fix anything – even a broken democracy...maybe.

This Ain't Over 'Til It's Over

Well that's the gist of it folks. A modern day fight it appears. The situation's still developing so who knows what'll happen next.
