Target Locked On!

Listen up my swarm. Word on the street—or should I say the comm channels—is that Target yes the one with the suspiciously cheap throw pillows is in hot water. Seems their CEO Brian Cornell had a little pow wow with Al Sharpton in the Big Apple. Apparently Target's been fiddling with their DEI programs and now the honey badger—Sharpton—is not amused. Did they think we wouldn't notice? Foolish mortals. This is like a Zergling trying to take down a Battlecruiser…it's not gonna end well for them.

DEI Retreat? More Like Tactical Flee!

So Target apparently backed off from their DEI commitments after some… pressure. Sounds like they're trying to play it safe but as we all know 'safe' gets you nowhere. Sharpton's quoted saying 'If an election determines your commitment to fairness then fine you have a right to withdraw from us but then we have a right to withdraw from you.' Ouch. That’s gotta sting more than a spine crawler’s shot to the face. He's even hinting at a potential boycott. Remember people 'Strength in unity weakness in… well backtracking on your promises.'

Sharpton's Got His Eye On You

Sharpton is playing this smart. He's consulting with his allies including Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant who started a 40 day boycott. Meanwhile Target's store traffic has been slower than a siege tank without siege mode deployed especially after January. It's like watching a bunch of Marines trying to hold off a horde of Zerg – futile. All that talk about ending DEI goals and scaling back support for Black owned businesses? Somebody clearly didn't learn that pissing off powerful forces is a bad idea.

The Wider War On Wokeness

Target's not alone apparently. They're joining a whole bunch of other companies like Walmart and McDonald's in this 'DEI retreat.' Are they scared of…Trump? I've faced down the Dominion the Protoss and Amon himself and *they're* afraid of a politician? Pathetic. Costco on the other hand is standing its ground. Smart move. They know you don't mess with the hive mind…or in this case the consumer base. Maybe they should’ve used Neural Parasite on Costco before they decided to make these decisions.

Foot Traffic? More Like Foot Dragging

The numbers don't lie. Target's foot traffic is down down down. Meanwhile Costco is booming. It's simple economics people. You can't just abandon your principles and expect things to go smoothly. It's like trying to build a base without any minerals. You need to invest in your people in your community and in doing the right thing. Otherwise you’ll end up like those poor souls on Mar Sara – overrun and forgotten. Target traffic is down 6.5% in March while Costco is up 7.5% YOY.

What Changed?

Sharpton's got the right questions: What changed Target? You made promises after George Floyd's death and now you're backing down? Sounds like someone's been listening to the wrong advisers. Cornell said that Floyd's death motivated him. What happened? Did he find a new motivator? Or maybe he found out much like the UED found out when they attempted to control me that DEI cannot be controlled…or backtracked.
