The One Who Knocked... on the Door of the Supreme Court
So this David Souter guy huh? Eighty five years they say. Well nobody cooks crystal forever. The Supreme Court announced it; apparently he kicked the bucket up in New Hampshire. Appointed by a Bush (the elder not the chimp) but he didn't exactly play ball with the Republican team. Talk about unexpected chemistry. Makes you wonder was he Heisenberg ing those decisions?
Roe v. Wade and Other 'Mistakes'
They're saying he sided with the 'liberal justices' on stuff like Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Roe v. Wade. As if that’s some kind of dirty word. Though of course that whole thing got undone later. Bush v. Gore? He dissented! Can you imagine? Sticking his neck out like that. Someone had to say it was bad judgement. The man clearly had his principles even if they were... *misguided*.
A Liberal Swap? Oh the Irony!
Then comes Obama. The Democrats get to replace him with Sonia Sotomayor. What a turn of events. A gift if you will. All part of the game I suppose. The constant give and take the chess match only in this case the pieces are real people and the stakes are... everything. And the winner takes it all. Does anyone ever really win?
From SCOTUS to Circuit: Back to the Grind
After all that Supreme Court drama he goes back to the First Circuit handling cases in New Hampshire and whatnot. Imagine from deciding the fate of the nation to dealing with petty squabbles in the Granite State. Talk about a comedown. But hey sometimes you gotta deal with the hand you're dealt. No half measures.
A Few Kind Words (Even I Can Manage Some)
John Roberts said he served with 'great distinction.' Uncommon wisdom kindness... Sounds like a real boy scout. But hey even I Walter White can acknowledge someone who dedicated their life to... something. Even if that something wasn't perfecting blue meth. We all make our choices.
Respect
Harvard Oxford the whole nine yards. Assistant Attorney General judge Supreme Court Justice. He had a good run even if it was on the wrong side of the chemistry. You gotta respect that. He may have been against my kind of work but you gotta respect the hustle.
