Hola amigos! Lionel Messi here your friendly neighborhood footballer weighing in on something far more important than a penalty kick – justice! I just heard about this court ruling down in the United States and let me tell you it's a GOOOAAALLL for equality! Seems like some folks were trying to pull a sneaky offside move by denying transgender and nonbinary people their right to passports that reflect who they truly are. But a judge stepped in and said 'No way José!' Or well 'No way Donald!' I always say the beautiful game is about fairness and that should extend to every part of life.

Trump's Attempted Red Card

So apparently after returning to office this Trump guy tried to pull a fast one saying there are only two sexes. I mean come on! The world is full of surprises like that time I missed a penalty (yeah it happens even to the best!). Denying someone their identity is like trying to play football with a flat ball – it just doesn't work. They even wanted the State Department to change its policies which is like trying to change the rules mid game! Not cool man not cool. It's like trying to tell Argentina we can't play football anymore. Ridiculous!

Biden's Equalizing Goal

Thankfully the current administration had different ideas. For more than three decades before Trump came along they allowed the trans community to update their gender on their passports. And this Biden administration? Well it's just like when I'm playing alongside world class players; In 2022 they allowed passport applicants to choose the "X" marker on the documents. It is critical for inclusion and representation across society just like when my teammates feed me the ball at just the right moment. It's all about teamwork and creating opportunities!

ACLU Scores the Assist

We also have to give a shout out to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). These guys are like the defenders on a football team always fighting for what's right! They called the ruling 'a critical victory against discrimination,' and I couldn't agree more. It's like when Puyol used to make a sliding tackle to win the ball for Barcelona! They always stood firm and delivered a top performance.

More Than Just a Game

Look I know I'm just a football player but even I can see that treating people with respect and dignity is crucial. I want all my fans no matter who they are to feel welcome and accepted. Let's aim for a world where everyone can live their lives authentically without fear of discrimination. After all we are all part of the same team and that is Team Human! That is the 'La Pulga' way!
