Avengers Assemble... For Economic Sanity!

Well folks Captain America here reporting for duty! Seems like things are heating up faster than a shawarma after a long day battling aliens. This whole trade war between the U.S. and China... it's like watching Iron Man and Thor argue over who gets the last pop tart. Except y'know with global economic consequences. China's Foreign Ministry is saying 'the market has spoken' after we slapped some new tariffs on them. And let me tell you the market's been speaking pretty loudly – mostly in panicked shouts and falling numbers!

The Market's Got the Blues (and Reds!)

The U.S. stock markets took a nosedive steeper than Bucky falling off that train. All the major indexes dropped more than 5%! Five percent! That's more than the number of times Tony Stark has said 'I am Iron Man.' And just when things couldn't get any more interesting China decided to hit back with a 34% tariff on goods from the U.S. starting April 10. It's like a game of 'who can impose the most tariffs' – and nobody wins in that game except maybe Red Skull because chaos is his bread and butter.

Beijing's Got a Point (Maybe?)

Now China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun took to Facebook saying this whole tariff war is 'unprovoked and unjustified.' He's calling for 'equal footed consultation.' Look I'm no expert in international trade; I mostly deal with super soldiers and interdimensional threats. But even I know that yelling at each other across the ocean isn't going to solve anything. As my pal Nick Fury likes to say 'Last time I trusted someone I lost an eye.' Maybe we need to trust a little bit here. Not too much though.

Trump's Tariff Tango

President Trump announced these 'reciprocal tariffs,' which basically means we're slapping tariffs on everyone and everything. He hit China especially hard bringing the total tariffs to 54%! That's more than the number of Hydra agents I've punched in my lifetime and that's saying something! He seems pretty unfazed by the market's reaction though saying 'big business' isn't worried. Well I'm not so sure about that pal. Seems like everyone's holding their breath.

Can't We All Just Get Along (and Trade Fairly)?

Look this whole situation reminds me of the time the Avengers had to decide what to order for takeout after saving the world. Everyone had a different opinion and it almost came to blows. We need to find a middle ground here. 'Compromise where you can. Where you can't don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree look them in the eye and say 'No you move.'' That's what I told the Avengers and it worked. Sort of.

What Would Peggy Do?

This is the point where I ask myself 'What would Peggy Carter do?' She'd probably tell me to knock some heads together negotiate with a firm but fair hand and remind everyone that we're all in this together. So let's hope our leaders can channel their inner Peggy Carter and figure this out. Because if this keeps up we might need to add 'economic collapse' to the list of things we're protecting the world from. And trust me that's one fight nobody wants.

What do pop-tarts have to do with anything, Cap?
