In Leo's Name Amen?
Alright so the new Pope Leo XIV decides to channel his inner Leo XIII. Claims he's all about social issues and workers' rights just like the OG Leo back during the Industrial Revolution. Now he's saying AI is the new bogeyman. Dignity justice labor... sounds like a socialist manifesto doesn't it? But hey even the Vatican needs to stay relevant. I just hope he's not planning on nationalizing Skynet. I always say 'What's the point of having fuck you money if you can't say fuck you?' But even I wouldn't say that to the Pope's face probably.
Francis' Legacy: A Tough Act to Follow?
Apparently Pope Leo's also hinting he'll keep things 'woke' like Francis. All that talk about 'service' and 'simplicity.' Look I respect a good hustle but let's be real. Francis ruffled some feathers with the old guard the kind who think the church should stick to dogma and ignore the 21st century. Leo's walking a tightrope here. Needs to keep the progressives happy without alienating the conservatives. That's a merger negotiation tougher than anything I've seen on Wall Street. Remember 'Money doesn't just buy you a better life better food better cars better pussy – it also makes you a better person.'
AI: The New Devil?
This AI angle though. It’s got potential. 'Defense of human dignity?' Sounds like someone's been watching too much Terminator. Look AI's coming whether they like it or not. The real question is who's gonna profit? 'You know what separates us from the animals? We can deny ourselves pleasure. We can elevate ourselves.' I wonder if the Pope can say the same about AI?
American in the Vatican?
So the new Pope is American. First one ever they say. Figures. We Americans always have to put our fingers in every pie. I wonder what kind of investments the Vatican has? They diversify or are they all in gold and indulgences? 'What is the point of being rich if you can't point to a pile of cash and say 'I bought that'?' I am wondering if he can use some of that holy money to beat this AI apocalypse.
Short the Robots?
Honestly I'm half tempted to short every AI company I can find. Let the algorithms bleed. Teach them a lesson about messing with human labor. But then again maybe there's an opportunity here. A new market to corner. 'I don't have principles. I have leverage.' Maybe I should buy AI instead. Who knows the church and Axe Capital may come together after all.
The Almighty Dollar (and Prayer)
The Pope's talking about ethics and AI. I'm thinking about disruption and opportunity. The world needs both I guess. But let's be honest money talks. And in the age of AI it might just be the only language everyone understands. 'If you aren't in the arena also getting your ass kicked I'm not interested in your feedback.'
